How to make a character un-selectable for a period of time?

I'm trying to make a character un-selectable while enraged, I don't want them to go berserk in the sense that they will attack party members, I'd simply like them to be un-selectable for the spells duration, is this possible? If so, would someone be so kind as to show me how?
