modding question: spell effect to change kit?

Quick question: is it possible for a spell effect to switch a character from one kit to another? I recall some old mods (Divine Remix, I think) adding 2 hidden kits along with each main cleric kit, but I never figured out the reason it cluttered up my .2da files so much. I kind of assumed it was something like this.

As an example of what I'd like to do: this could be a way to implement weapon mastery level restrictions, a la proper PnP rules. E.g. fighters could be limited to mastery until 12th level, when an effect in the CLAB file would switch them to the largely identical fighter2 kit, which can achieve high mastery. (And then ditto at 15th level to fighter3 kit, gaining access to grandmastery.)

Another use, if I have the time, would be to properly implement kensai weapon focus, letting them get grandmastery in a weapon they choose at 1st level, but not in any others.
