Ranged staff won't stay in ranged mode, automaticle jumps back to melee.

Hello :)
I can't seem to get the Staff of Magic to use my selfmade ranged albility. It looks very correct. I can click albility, and then the ranged one. But when i click "done" it jumps back to melee.

I have to photos attached wich show my near inifinity setup for it. Can any1 help me fix this problem. I got an effect when it hits also.
