Was the death by mysterious chunking problem ever solved in EET Megamod versions of BG1+SoD?

I remember awhile back certain characters would die permanently for no real reason or least according to these forums, but I don't know if this issue was ever resolved.

If not I was planning on not using EET to avoid that problem.
