Any mod available that reduces experience gain?

$
0
0

I'm looking for a mod that reduces experience gain.

Why? - you might ask. Well, I want to play the saga with 3 or 4 self-made characters in a faux multiplayer game. Creating all characters yourself makes your party a lot stronger, but if they also get experience for 6, the games get boring

Only thing I've been able to find is Ding0 Experience Fixer (aka defjam), but is this EE compatible?

Or is there another mod that reduces XP gain?

[MOD] Isra NPC for BG:EE, BGT & TuTu released!

$

Platform: BG:EE, BGT & TuTu

And for our final release this 12 Days of Christmas, we have a new paladin NPC from Rhaella, author of Adrian and Ninde ToB, for BG:EE/BGT/TuTu!

Isra is a follower of Sune Firehair, the goddess of love, beauty, and passion, and the only chaotic aligned deity to sponsor paladins. As such, she isn't necessarily what you might expect of a paladin. She associates with some of the most mirthful churches in the Realms, so for the most part, she lacks the solemn edge that's so common for the class. She definitely still believes in honor, discipline, and order, but she tends to value the courtly aspects of the code of conduct more highly than the demands of duty. As a result, she's usually pretty willing to ignore harmlessly chaotic behavior (not evil behavior, though).

Isra is Amnish, most recently from Crimmor, the Caravan Capital of Amn. She's a squire with the Sisters and Brothers of the Ruby Rose, and you can find her in the Nashkel Mines region, trying (with no success whatsoever) to resolve Prism's legal difficulties. Aid her in protecting him from Greywolf, and she'll be happy to help you investigate the mines. Make sure you recruit her before clearing them, however. They pose enough of a threat that she'll be willing to take action first and seek permission later; otherwise she'd feel obligated to return south to her order instead of gallivanting off with strangers.

She won't join the company of an evil PC under any circumstances. She won't be rude about it, but she does have the magic to tell. She also won't stick around if your reputation drops below 6.

The game crashes when resting in the underdark area; I don't know the error cause it doesn't come up with one.
Any ideas how to fix it?
Here's the save file.

I used mods, but Even if I tried to uninstall all of them it still crashed.
I even tried to empty my inventory, no use...

Oh yeah, the slayer form disappeared too.

[Work in Progress - beta stage] Gleya NPC Mod for BG2

$

I'm in playtesting stage of my mod NPC, Gleya. Original idea posted in the following thread: http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/comment/523597

image
(art by Isandir: http://isandir.com/category/portraits/)

Name: Gleya Windborn (real last name unknown)
Gender: Female
Race: Human genasi (air)
Class: Cleric
Alignment: Chaotic Good
Deity: Selune

Stats:
Str: 15
Dex: 19
Con: 9
Int: 14
Wis: 16
Cha: 15

Proficiencies:

Mace +
Flail +
Sling +

Biography: When asked about the past, GLEYA merely shrugs. She tells that she was once the healer for the Bright Pearl, a merchant ship which is known for travelling throughout a large portion of Faerun to trade exotic goods. She adds that she was taught the faith of Selune, the Moonmaiden, by a man named Ezeim. Her unusual appearance stems from her extraplanar ancestry as a windborn genasi, which she mentions is a heritage not unheard of in the djinn-populated land of Calimshan, her birthplace. With her tendency to drift off into different subjects, it is difficult to learn more.

Content: 1 new joinable NPC, 2 new spells, 5 new items, 1 combat encounter/short quest. Currently lacks voice acting.

Friendship/Romance: 10 time-based friendship talks, chapter-based talks, romance talks (romance-exclusive talks start after last friendship talk)

Comments: I have trouble writing a single character for too long. Romances in particular aren't something I'm great at, but I figured I'd give it a shot anyway. I used the Branwen NPC mod (http://www.pocketplane.net/mambo/index.php?option=com_content&task=blogcategory&id=113&Itemid=84) as a base and tutorial, which I'd recommend anyone interested in making a mod NPC look at.

Banters (very minor spoiler potential):
Arranged as SoA/ToB (conditional talks included). There's a bit more than average than vanilla NPCs without banter mods. No conflicts other than romance.
Aerie - 4/2
Anomen - 2/2
Cernd - 3/1 (1 conditional SoA talk)
Dorn - 3/1 (there are more, but some are mutually exclusive)
Edwin - 3/1 (1 conditional SoA talk)
Haer'dalis - 3/2
Hexxat - 1/1
Imoen - 4/3 (1 conditional ToB talk)
Jaheira - 4/2
Jan - 1/1 (sorry, hate writing for Jan :( )
Keldorn - 3/1
Korgan - 2/1
Mazzy - 3/1 (1 conditional SoA talk)
Minsc - 3/1
Nalia - 2/1
Neera - 4/1
Rasaad - 3/2 (1 conditional SoA talk, 1 conditional ToB talk)
Sarevok - 2 (1 conditional talk)
Valygar - 2/2
Viconia - 3/2 (1 conditional SoA talk with Rasaad)
Yoshimo - 3 (1 conditional talk)
Spells:
image - Moon Shield: Using this spell, the Silverstar of Selune raises a barrier of moonlight around self, shielding from magic. For the duration, the caster gains 20% magic resistance and +5 to saving throws vs. death and magic. 1 use/day.
image - Moonfire
(Evocation)

Level: 7
Sphere: Sun
Range: 0
Casting Time: 5
Area of Effect: Special
Duration: Instant
Saving Throw: 1/2

This spell can only be cast by priests of Selune. When this spell is cast, a cone of fiery white moonlight springs from the caster's hand. Living creatures in the area feel an unnatural chill and take 1d8 points of magic damage per two caster levels, to a maximum of 10d8. Undead take 10d8 damage with no save. Targets who pass a saving throw vs. spell at take half damage. In addition, targets may also have their effects dispelled as per the Dispel Magic spell.
Even if the save succeeds, they remain covered in ghostly white outlines that show their true forms for 1 round, removing all invisibility effects.

Cast as a priest spell similarly to Jaheira's Harper's Call.
Items:
Only revealing one item for now.
image
Screenshots:

Gleya's location:
And a line of her starting dialogue.
image
Gleya's Stats:
Her health is pretty terrible. Her armor class is incredible though, and she can use full plate and heavy shields without help, unlike Viconia.
image
Current bugs and 'not working as intended' features I can't fix (anyone have any ideas?):

Gleya, as a human with appropriate stats, can dual-class to thief. I have no idea how to prevent it, but I'd rather she remain as a cleric. Though with the game's lack of advancing 'good-aligned' thieves I'm considering keeping it as a feature. A couple talks don't make sense in context.

Could a mod force 30 FPS during in-engine cutscenes?

$

Since my first ever BG2 playthrough I switched to playing at 60 FPS (double speed) just because it saves a lot of time over the full length of the game. However the downside to this is that in-engine cutscenes also play at 60 FPS but of course the voice acting doesn't so all lines end up getting cut off. Would it be possible for a mod to force 30 FPS during certain times like possibly whenever the player loses control of their character?

to mod or not to mod

I'm feeling nostalgic, so I'm taking another run through the series. It's been so long that I actually don't remember much of BG2 and very little of BG1, so it's almost like I get to experience it for the first time again. In other words, no spoilers please.

Anyway, I just grabbed it from gog. When I played back in the day, I installed some user generated patches to clean up a few things that were on the CD-rom versions of the game. Are they any patches I should throw into the gog version?

Also, I read there was a way to play the entire thing with the BG2 engine. I'm not really playing any of the bg2 specific classes until I get to bg2. My plan is to create a cleric that I dual over to a (shadowkeeper) wild mage, though I'm not sure when to dual. I figure it wouldn't be before bg2 though. The concept being that he was a cleric of Oghma (Ogmha?) that eventually decided to take a more powerful path once he realized the level of crap he's in. In any event, is it worth the trouble of doing the whole thing in the BG2 engine? If so, what's the easiest/least buggy way to go about it?

Thanks for any help.

Which features of TobEx are included in BGEE ? It exist a list somewhere ?

I also read on the general forum, that some features of TobEx can be activated only if we add some options in the ini file, but what are these lines ?

TIA.

New versions of NearInfinity available

After a lack of updates for a lengthy period of time I have started releasing updated versions of NearInfinity.

Download

Summary of new features:
• Full BG:EE and BG2:EE support (including support of new resource types and effect opcodes)
• Native ACM and WAVC sound support (no acm2wav or acmtool required anymore)
• Native Ogg Vorbis sound support
• Native MVE movie playback support (the movie format used in the original BG1/BG2 and IWD games)
• A new area viewer (found in the view tab of each ARE resource entry), featuring:
    • Day and night maps
    • Simulation of different daylight lighting conditions
    • Overlay support (for displaying water, lava, etc.)
    • Visualization of various map structures (actors, regions, doors, animations, ...)
    • Map zooming (fixed zoom levels and auto-zoom)
• Various conversion routines (found under the menu Tools->Convert):
    • a powerful BAM Converter
    • Image to BMP (supports transparency; required for images displayed in BG(2):EE's item descriptions)
    • Image to MOS
    • Image to PVRZ
    • Image to TIS
• Syntax highlighting support and selectable color schemes for BCS scripts, GLSL and SQL resources
• Extended search (found under the menu Search)
• and many more improvements and bugfixes

Those are work in progress releases, so you may still find a bug or two, especially in the new features. You might want to browse this thread for more information or visit the download page once in a while to see if updated versions are available. Alternatively you can visit the main branch of NearInfinity, however it is updated much less often.

Note: NearInfinity requires Java 6 or higher. It has been tested mostly on Windows systems, but it should work reliably on any system supported by Java.

Feel free to test it, especially the new features, and post your comments, bug reports or suggestions either here or in this thread.

Problem with Mur'Neth mod?

I recently tried out the Mur'Neth mod, which has been updated for compatibility with EE. Although the in-game character appears to work based on my cursory testing, I receive a series of error messages every time that I begin a new game. See screenshots below for two examples of the multiple error messages that I receive.

image
image

My understanding of the Mur'Neth mod (I never tried it before now) is that the character is supposed to be his own unique thief kit. However, in my game, Mur'Neth is considered a vanilla thief. My supposition is that perhaps the game isn't recognizing the new kit, and that's what's causing the error messages?

increased banters in BGEE?

$

This is a mod idea for BGEE that I would like to float to the community.

Through the CLUA console we can force banters to fire with Ctrl+I. It would be wonderful if a simple (?) mod automatically increased the occurrence of NPC banters. Enough so that they fire pretty frequently--say, for any two NPCs that have interaction, it would be on the order of about every half hour or so...

To extend the concept, if it would be possible to use the same type of code to expand the banters between various NPCs (including fights) to more NPC relationships, then that would rock as well.

Some time back @Mordeus compiled the banters which may be viewed here. A lot of the dialog lines that the NPCs have could be used to define new relationships, above and beyond the original game.

Does a mod such as this sound feasible?

Wild Mage mod(s)

So I've done a few searches and had a look around myself and can't find anything concrete so I am left with no option but to ask.

I love Wild Mages and I want to start another game today as a Wild Mage. Now before Enhanced Edition, there were a lot of kit mods that I liked playing as and one of them was http://mods.jo-ge.net/bg/shaper.htm this one. I have no idea whether it works with Enhanced Edition and it was updated a rather long time ago. As such, I'm wondering whether anyone knows of any mods out there that enhance/improve/expand upon the Wild Mage in any way. I know there's the spell revisions mod as well so if there are any mods like that as well, I would be grateful for any information.

Thank you!

Please note we are in BG1- section of forums!! Only BG1 mods please!

Most people present have been (occasionally..) playing Baldur's Gate for a very long time now. I think it likely most people have come across a mod or two they think so highly of that it has turned into an integral and essential part of their BG experience. Let's talk about those mods! Which ones are invaluable to you? Why?

Please provide name of the mod, status of compatibility with EE and some relevant link or another if you know of any.Describe the mod briefly! Excessive mod listings are welll and good and can be incredibly handy. It's just that bare name of a mod isn't a very meaningful thing for somebody who has never tried it or played BG all that much.

Ideally, this thread might increase visibility and generate well earned buzz around few excellent if a bit overlooked mods.

BG1 NPC Project

Starting such listing with the BG1 NPC Project makes a highly obvious choice for me. Not sure if I've ever seen a mod for *any* game enhancing and improving atmosphere of the vanilla experience as much as the NPC project does.

The BG1 NPC Project is all about ensuring the days of silent, empty joinable NPCs are over. The mod adds several hundreds of banters, few quests and romances. Significant portions of the content is of very high quality. Dialogue written usually suits mood of the game and the NPCs perfectly. The mod is all about immersion, atmosphere and making the NPCs and Player Character richer in flavor. Don't expect any additional mobs to kill etc. Great deal of the new dialogue is all about interjections and reactions to surroundings. Mod kicks in and shows it's teeth the moment PC and Imoen arrive to Gorion's body. It doesn't just make the NPCs richer but also adds great deal to the environment, world as a whole. I much appreciate how, despite adding a drastic amount of new content, NPC project still manages to stay loyal to the original atmosphere.

Due to the nature of this mod, there is nothing to consider in terms of game balance. It won't be handing you game breaking amounts of XP(or any XP at all, iirc)) or some imbalanced extra gear or such.

As made apparent enough by my rampart fanboyism, I've come to think extremely highly of the NPC Project. To a degree where any intention to start a single BG:EE playthrough without it flew out of window as soon as I heard our valiant @LiamEsler is busy(!!!;p) crafting a BG:EE friendly version of it.

Monk paperdoll .bam (original BG2)

I wanted to replace the monk paperdoll with the hooded thief paperdoll, which if I understand correctly should be as simple as saving copy of CHMT2INV.BAM to the override folder and renaming it as the monk one. However, I can't find the monk's paperdoll bam in the list! All the animation bams are there, so logic says it should be CHMM1INV.BAM, but that file doesn't seem to exist. Any help appreciated!

Angelo Mod Questions

I recently saw someone go through a let's Play of Baldur's Gate 2 with the Angelo Mod. I didn't like it at first, but then it really grew on me.
I went to Gibberlings3 and saw the Mod is now compatible with BG2:EE. I thought this was pretty awesome.
Could I please get instructions on how to download the Mod?
Also does anyone know if the BG2:EE Angelo has banters with the new characters (i.e. Dorn, Rasaad, Neera, Hexatt)?

Specifically I was wondering how I would go about removing the requirement that an enemy not be in your line of sight when its activated (this is for the shadowdancer). I looked through it but not being particularly familiar with anything more than basic scripting for the game I'm not too sure what exactly is being used to restrict it from activating when enemies are in your line of sight. So help here would be appreciated.

I have been trying to create a custom 2H sword by using the NearInfinity editor and changing the stats of the item in the save file itself. I had no luck with it though since whenever I try equipping it the game crashes. Did you guys had any luck with this?

And If it is such a big hassle I am even ready to pay you 5$ over paypal if you could create the item for me (Yes I am that desperate! ><

All right let me know if you can help! :D

And now to install the Kit mod! :)

Yours cordially

Cler1c

P.s. It is my long lasting wish to have "Heya it's just me Imoen" inscribed on my tombstone. Not kiddin'. ^^
