Battle Enhancer Mod ver. 1.33 (BG:EE 1.2 compatible)

Designed and created by Charan and lunar: Long awaited release of Harsh Faerun Mod - Now know as Battle Enhancer Mod!

Most important changes and features:
- ENEMY CORE AI IMPROVED:
Most enemies and NPC's have a chance to possess random potions and WILL use them in fight.
Enemies who use projectile weapons have a chance to possess random magical projectiles they can use and they WILL use them on the player.
Most enemies and NPC's use SMART TARGETING and attempt to chase your weakest members unless kited
Most mages and clerics will now reposition or attack between casting spells.
It's no longer possible to lure enemies from fog of war one by one. Attacking an enemy makes him call for help in a decent radius.

- GAME BALANCE REVISED:
Guards, soldiers and mercenaries recevied some proper training. A watcher in plate mail is no longer just cannon fodder that can't hit a gibberling. (Game is even harder for EVIL teams)
Human NPC's and monsters have received buffs by maxing their Hit Points rolls and stats for given levels.
Critter races have been separated into variety of tiers.
Some tiers received more significant overall buffs than others. Just try the Gnoll Stronghold now.
Exp rates revised and rebalanced according to challenge. Some rates went up, some rates went down.
It should be faster to leave the early game levels but overall pool of EXP per game did not go up too much.
Note: Most changes were HAND EDITED while stricktly following of AD&D rules and progression tables. Take care as the game WILL be HARDER now.

- DROP RANDOMIZER:
Most enemies have a chance to be in possession of random treasure which can be stolen or looted.
Drop chance and loot pool depends on the enemy tier.
Separate tier for spellcasters, which gives a better opportunity to get rare scrolls.
Some treasures in hidden stashes have been randomized in balancing purpose.
Drop rates have been adjusted so that during an average game course you will find: around 12 low tier items, around 6 medium tier items and 1-2 Legendary tier items.
Note: Critters who previously did not drop items did not receive the chance for loot.
It's impossible to find personalized/one of a kind items (for example, you won't find a second Helmet of Balduran)

- NEW FIGHTS
Some new encounters and new enemies added.
Some fight with mages have been reworked to be more difficult and interesting.
Reworked Ogre Mage fight mechanics to provide an ultimate and unique experience (Enjoy)
Chieftain and Leader critters received additional boosts and special abilities to strengthen their kin

- MEETING COMPANIONS AT MAX HIT POINTS ROLLS
All companions are met at their MAX HIT points rolls, regardless of player's level.

- HARSH TIMES
Shop prices are now higher but players won't receive more gold for their items (crisis right?)

Notes:
!WARNING!
THIS MOD IS NOT RECOMMENDED FOR BALDUR'S GATE BEGINNERS! It's perfectly possible to start a new game with it BUT you need to have at least slight idea on what you are doing.

1. Installation:
Simply put the Override folder into:
Steam Version: your BG Enhanced edition main directory (Example for steam version: D:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition)
Non-Steam Version: ...\Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition\data\00766\ folder

You can instal this mod at ANY moment of the game but it is just more fun and more balance to play with it from the beginning.

It should be compatible with all other mods (unless they change creature statistics and HP) and all game languages - especially if you install Battle Enhancer as last. Pr
"MEETING COMPANIONS AT MAX HIT POINTS ROLLS" can be overwritten with other mods that edit your companions (new kits, etc) and it will not affect the other features at all.

You can use ANYTHING included in this mod package without my permission - even for commercial use - I simply do not care. Just enjoy and make a good use of it.

PLEASE REPORT ANY BUGS IN THIS DISCUSSION SO I CAN HOTFIX THEM.

Chagelog:
Ver 1.11:
- Minor bugfixes with neutral NPC's sometimes assaulting the player.
Ver 1.12:
- Gnoll5 overbuffing and dialogNPC fix.
- Nashkel Mine lvl 3 crash fix.
Ver 1.2:
- Full compatibility with BGEE patch 1.2 (Rasaad required HP-Reroll due to change in his kit).
- Improved casters behavior between spell casts. Also they will no longer leave areas when repositioning.
- Enemy backup requests feature added (No longer possible to lure enemies from fog of war one by one).
- Slighty lowered drop chances.
- Improved potion using mechanism. Now enemies are much more likely to use their magical mixtures and will also do it faster than before.
Ver 1.21:
- Fixed potion using by neutral NPC's.
- Vampiric wolf is no considered Undead.
Ver 1.3:
- Smart targeting has been improved. Enemies won't attempt to chase your squishies too far - they will choose appropriate nearby target instead (it's almost impossible to keep them focused on the main party tank). Current design is more sofisticated and won't allow for hit'n'run exploit.
- Cosmetic fix for casters: They will now face nearest enemy after repositioning.
- Added Smart targeting to some enemies that were lacking it.
Ver 1.31:
- Script optimalization and cleanup.
- Smart targeting added to more enemies.
- Fix for Branwen starting HP.
Ver 1.32:
- Borda won't drink his cursed potions during fight.
- Improvement of script for creatures using both ranged and melee weapons. These enemies will sometimes attempt to increase their distance before switching to melee when approached by players(should be more annoying and harder to catch now). Also improved weapon switching response time.
- Some AI script performance improvements.
- Fix for quest to bring Worn Whispers boots. (Unfortunately it's not retrospective once you have killed the hobgoblin dropping the boots.)
Ver 1.33:
- Fix for Zombie Plague Quest.
- Fix for Xvarts attacking cow quest.
- Fix for Flind damage (they were dealing less than they should).

Bug? Killing Zhurlong costs five reputation points

Good afternoon,

I just started playing Bladur's Gate after buying it on gog.com. As per their recommendation, I installed both Baldur's Gate II Fixpack and Baldur's Gate Trilogy-WeiDU 1.18.

According to every guide and walkthrough out there, you can kill Zhurlong the dwarf after returning his boots, without your reputation decreasing. However, every time I do so, I lost five reputation points.

Replacing the monk

$
0
0
I've always felt that the monk is out of place in BG(ee). Apparently, it is possible to replace the monk avatar--ie little dude/dudette that walks around--and paper doll--ie the little dude/dudette that hangs out in your inventory screen.

I'm curious if a) anybody else agrees and would be happy to download such a mod, and b) if they have any good ideas for a replacement class. I'd be stuck with the same GUI so the class would have to have stealth and detect (but not disable) traps. I may be able to incorporate other thief skills like set traps--one way or another I CAN do this--and detect illusion--may or may not be possible. Regular spellcasting is not possible ATM.

Any ideas would be welcome and might include:

- Class name and any source material
- Possible kit ideas
- Which paper doll and avatar is most appropriate (is thief, fighter, etc.)
- Abilities--please feel free to include as much detail as you like including opcode and scripting suggestions
- Weapon and armor use (staffs should be possible though I haven't tested it yet)
- Proficiency
- Stat requirements

[Request] Demon Knight Kit from Revised Battles v6.3

http://www.shsforums.net/files/file/655-revised-battles-v63/

DEMON KNIGHT: Humans which have been consumed by the taint of Demonic blood and are twisted into corruption, making their actions and powers resemble those of a Demon. As a Demon Knight gains experience he or she gains many abilities that other demons have. A few examples are great resistance towards fire and magic as well as being able to determine which plane he is in.

Advantages:
- Immune to fear and morale failure.
- Immune to hold.
- 40% resistance to fire.
- 12th level: Becomes immune to Maze.
- 15th level: Can summon a demon to aid in battle once per day.
- 21st level: Becomes immune to Imprisonment.
- Gains two points of magic resistance per level from level 1 to 20 (i.e. 40% at lv.20).
- Can cast Demonic Fear one time per day for every 4 levels (starts at 1st level with one use): All enemies within the area of effect when this spell is cast must save vs. spells or flee in terror.
- Can cast Inner Sight one time per day for every 4 levels: When this spell is cast, an area roughly 70 feet in radius around the caster will be affected. Instantly and once each round for 1 turn after this spell is cast, all hostile illusion/phantasm spells in the area of effect will be dispelled.
- Can cast Fire Shield Red one time per day for every 8 levels (starts at 1st level with one use).
- Can get Aura of Flaming Death as a high level ability.

Disadvantages:
- May not specialize in weapons other than Two-Handed Swords, Bastard Swords, Long Swords and Halberds.
- Must have a Chaotic Evil alignment.
- May not become proficient in the 'Sword and Shield' style.
- May not dual-class.
- Must be Human.
- Maximum wisdom and charisma scores of 8.
- Cannot use ranged weapons.

I tested this kit recently on my vanilla BG 2 install.. And from what I could tell it worked fine. I could still place 5 points in Two-Handed Swords, Bastard Swords, Long Swords and Halberds. I'm unsure if it was supposed to be only 2 points for balance originally(although yes I know the kit is quite powerful anyway)

I could still use range weapons, but not place any points into them.

I did not get far enough in TOB to test whether or not Aura of flaming death could actually be picked at level up.

Dual-class,human and ability/stat restrictions seemed to work as intended.

Either way I was wondering if anyone could extract, update and make this kit playable on BG2EE. Depending on how difficult or

I think the original mod author and the person who uploaded the mod on SHforums is long gone. No activity in years from his user profile.

There are other components beside the Demon Knight, but I have not tested any of those.

EE Keeper: How to set Strength bonus to 18/00?

$

I've tried setting it to 00 which seemingly results in 18/01 and 200 pound carry capacity, I've also tried setting it to 100 which results in my Strength stat being set to the minimum when loading the save game in BG:EE (3 strength or whatever) and a carry capacity of 50 pounds.

How do I get this fabled perfect roll with EE Keeper 1.0.2.4? Unsure if this is the correct forum for this discussion.

IWDification - how to use on Mac OS X version?

Hi there,

I have the Mac OS X version of BGEE, which I got from the Beamdog website. I really want to use the IWDification pack to get more Druid spells from IWD.

How do I do it? It says to put the files in the BG game folder (presumably in the same place I put my portraits), but when I click the command file, it says "The file “setup-iwdification.command” could not be executed because you do not have appropriate access privileges."

I have tried to run it directly through console, but that doesn't work either. Anyone got some easy instructions for installing this? Really excited about improving the Druid class in BG!!!

Thanks

Hi everyone. i'm trying to get the cheats to work for BG:EE (1) and i have NO idea how to edit my notepad successfully. i use windows 8 and i've been tearing my hair out trying to get this to work. i'm very VERY bad with computers, so if it's okay, could someone please tell me EXACTLY what needs to be put in the notepad for it to work? Like, if i erase everything, i want to just copy/paste once for it to work; i have no idea where to insert-- or WHAT to insert-- for these commands. i've played this game for years and now i finally wanna be able to have some real fun. Please help. Thanks. <3

Sword Coast Stratagems is now available for BG:EE and BGII:EE

$

The newest version of my mod "Sword Coast Stratagems", version 25, is now out and ought to be a bit improvement on previous versions for BG:EE in terms of stability and ease of install. It should be compatible with version 1.2 of BG:EE and (with any luck) with BG2:EE when it comes out later this week. The new version fixes a host of bugs large and small (though mostly not with BG:EE, as it happens) and (with some trepidation) I'm declaring it non-beta, though realistically it's still beta for BG2:EE.

You can download it from http://www.gibberlings3.net/scs

Edit: after two fast updates in response to problems identified with BG2:EE installs, we're now on v27. I've had to disable the "Improved Vampires" component on BG2:EE installs for the moment: some kind of animation bug is causing crashes and I don't immediately have time to sort it out. (If you have installed that component, I recommend uninstalling it.)

Edit: version 28 now out. This one fixes several severe bugs.

Long bow of Stealth +5

$
0
0
as requested by @Jepatrienosaksen‌, I created a mod that adds a new item to late SoA BG2, so you can use a serious longbow in ToB (LBs aren't that bad in SoA… just use the Manabow with arrows of Dispelling/Biting).
The bow is actually added to the Elven City near the end of SoA (I can't spell the name properly, sorry), there are two options, one to randomize it trough the City, and the other to just add it to a container in the main area.

Item description:

Longbow of Stealth, the Stealthy Strike +5:
Crafted by the finest Elven workmanship on the Realms and enchanted by a powerful Sorcerer this bow has the ability of turning the target deaf as well as helping the wielder to hide in the shadows of the night. As the string is drawn back, arrows are created out of the strength of the wielder, this grants ammunition to the user in cases he could not be using the bow.

STATISTICS

Combat Abilities:
- The bow requires no ammunition
- There are 10% chances the wielder loses a point of Strength for two rounds when attacking an opponent
- Deafness over the target for one and a half round unless he save vs. Spell when hit

Equipped Abilities:
- The user gains a 15% bonus to Stealth

THAC0: +6
Damage: 1d6+4 (missile)
Speed Factor: 1
Proficiency Type: Longbow
Type: Two-handed
Requires:
6 Strength

Weight: 2

I also made a mod that adds some Arrows +4, but the code to actually _add them_ to the game doesn't want to work, anyway this is their Item Description:

Arrows of Acidic Poisoning, Arrows of Sevlhan +4:
A long time ago, a merchant mage from Calishman, Sevlhan, created many of these arrows to be used by an adventuring party whom was later slaughtered by a group of Orcs. The arrows got sold to a merchant, who, selling the arrows in small quantities, spread the all over the Sword Coast and it's vicinities.

STATISTICS

Combat Abilities:
- The victim must save vs. Death or be poisoned with Acid for 1 turn for 5 damage each round

THAC0: +4
Damage: 1d6+1 (missile)
Launcher: Bow

Weight: 0

The mod can be found here as well under this post ;)
Windows users should use the Setup-7C#BowArrows.EXE while mac users should use the Setup-7C#BowArrows (no extension).

What would you think about a NPC who joined your party, only to realize at a certain point they were spying on you? This person takes you to the enemy which is when you find out their true motivations. But they may forsake their master if during your travels you made the right "choices", in other words good alignment choices. But if you didn't make the right choices, this person would leave your party and join your enemy.

Even if they stuck with you, would you still consider keeping them in your party?

Goooood afternoon ladies and gentlemen, just thought I'd share with you a little tinkering project from BG:EE.
I felt the need for a a goodly aligned cleric/ranger with a tolerable personality.

So I made one.

She has banters with some on the NPC's and a handful of interjections. It's only in an early release at this point and it will be updated fairly often to later include quests and a few unique items. As well as a story that explains a few vague things mentioned around the place. :) At the moment, she can be found in the Jovial Juggler in Beregost. She's on a mission... ;)
Can't guarantee it's bug free but I'll do what I can to help out with it!

Cheers!

Edit: Updated to Version 0.20
New banters, randomized banters and cleaned up coding and dialogue.

The Hitchhiker's Guide to Installing Mods on OSX

$

0
This is guide is based in @mlnevese's earlier "Installing Mods in OSX a quick tutorial", updated for BG2EE, Mac App Store BGEE/BG2EE installations, and changes to recent versions of WeiDU.

Step 1: Find your Resources folder

First, you need to locate the Resources folder of your BGEE/BG2EE game, which is where you will install mods. Open up a Finder window, and locate your BGEE/BG2EE application package.

If you purchased the game direct from Beamdog, the location of the application package is as follows,
BGEE: Applications/Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition/Game Data/00777/
BG2EE: Applications/Baldur's Gate II - Enhanced Edition/Game Data/00782/

If you purchased the game from the Mac App Store, the BGEE/BG2EE app will be in your Applications folder.

Right click on the BGEE/BG2EE app, "Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition" or "BaldursGateIIEnhancedEdition", and select "Show Package Contents". Go to "Contents/Resources". This is your Resources folder.

SPECIAL NOTE FOR MAC APP STORE PURCHASERS (click spoiler button to reveal)
If you downloaded BGEE/BG2EE from the Mac App Store, then the app package will be owned by the root user and your user account won't have permission to write files to the Resources folder. To fix this, you'll have to change the permissions.

Select the Resources folder and then choose File > Get Info.
Under the Sharing & Permissions pane, click the lock icon and enter an administrator’s name and password.
Change the privilege for "Everyone" to "Read & Write".
Then, choose "Apply to enclosed items" from the Action pop-up menu (looks like a gear).
Step 2: Download the latest WeiDU

Get a copy of Mac WeiDU here: http://www.weidu.org/~thebigg/.

FYI - If you're new to modding, WeiDU is an installer program for BGEE/BG2EE mods. You need it.

Unzip the archive and go into the "WeiDU-Mac/bin/x86-64" folder to get the WeiDU program. If you have OSX 10.9 (Mavericks), use the "weidu+mavericks" file, if you have OSX 10.6-10.8 (Snow Leopard, Lion, or Mountain Lion), use the "weidu+snowleopard" file. Copy the program file to the Resources folder, and rename it "weidu".

Step 3: Get some mods!

For BGEE, @mlnevese maintains a list of BGEE compatible mods.

For BG2EE, check out @LiamEsler's BG2EE Compatible Mod List.

Download the mod(s) you want to install. Unpack the archive and copy the mod files to the Resources directory.

If you download an OSX version of a mod, it might come with a program with the name of the form "setup-MODNAME" (no extension), e.g. "setup-bg2_tweaks". This is a copy of WeiDU, but it might be an older version of WeiDU. Even if it is the latest version, it might not be the version you need (i.e., mavericks vs snowleopard). So, just go ahead and delete that file.

Step 4: Install the mods!

Okay, now for the final steps.

Open the Terminal application. At the command line type "cd " (no quotes). DON'T HIT ENTER (yet) and, yes, the space after cd is necessary. Drag-n-drop the Resources folder onto the Terminal window. A really long folder name should appear following your "cd ". It will probably look something like this:
cd /Applications/Baldur\'s\ Gate\ -\ Enhanced\ Edition/Game\ Data/00777/Baldur\'s\ Gate\ -\ Enhanced\ Edition.app/Contents/Resources
*Now* hit Enter. Tada! You are in the Resources folder.

Next, enter the following command:
ln -s weidu setup-MODNAME
where MODNAME is the name of the folder the mod's files are in. This creates an alias you will use to install the mod. For example, the files for the BG2 Tweaks mod are in the folder "bg2_tweaks". So, the command would be:
ln -s weidu setup-bg2_tweaks

It's finally time to install the mod. The command is:
./setup-MODNAME
again, where MODNAME is the name of the folder the mod's files are in (and yes, you need the ./).

The first time you run WeiDU, it will ask you to select a language. This should be the language of your BGEE/BG2EE game.

If the mod you are installing has options, it will prompt you during the installation process.

Step 5: Enjoy!

Once you've installed your mod, re-launch BGEE/BG2EE and have fun playing your modded game!

[BG:EE MOD] Caina Fighter/Brigand NPC and Zarra Ranger/Archer NPC

$

0
Hi friends.
Officially its my first BGEE mod, so...

The MOD:
3 new dungeons (or 10 new areas/maps)
ca 20 new enemies
ca 20 new items (well, not really OP, most of them are +1)
1 new class/kit (could be a bit OP, but personally just for my taste, I'm planning to go through BGEE and BG2EE with this kit)
3 quests (journal entries don't work, I'll fix it in the next update)
2 joinable NPCs
ca 15 banters
ca 50 game comments
some talks with PC
(not really much conversations...)
NPC:
1. Caina Human Female Evil Fighter/Brigand (New kit)
STR 17
DEX 16
CON 12
INT 12
WIS 11
CHA 13

She's a mercenary from Luskan. She can be found in Gerard Travenhurst's house in Beregost (locked noble house with 2 guards inside).
She has a quest (she joins only after the quest is done. The quest is tough), 3 items and a simple voiceset.
+ Its not really a quest, but Caina likes mages (Edwin, Xzar, Xan), so she will give them magical gifts (different of course) while traveling with her. Should be fun, I guess.

2. Zarra Elf Female Evil Ranger/Archer (I was going to make her a M/T, but then... Well, I just love evil rangers like Bishop in NWN2)
STR 11
DEX 19
CON 9
INT 13
WIS 10
CHA 16

She's a drow. She can be found in the southern area near Nashkel (Kryll, Samuel and ring of fire protection)
She has a small quest, 2 items, innate ability to summon Auflaque and has a simple voiceset.

Areas
1. Orc Cave - Gullykin village.
2. Old Temple - west of Beregost - Drizzt area.
3. Blackmaul enclave - east of Nashkel - Kryll, Samuel, ring of fire resistance area.

The areas should be OK for a 3-4 lvl party. Boss battles are tough... Most of the new items are there.
New Kit
BRIGAND: A Brigand is a common outlaw robber who travels with others in a group or a loner assassin.
Brigands break into the battle without honor and respect using dirty tricks.
Brigands can either stab their enemies from the back with a sharp dagger or strike outright with a long sword when they have an advantage in numbers and strenght.
Voracious gold diggers, Brigands usually have no deity.

Advantages:
- May use backstab ability for increased damage:
Level 1-3: x1
Level 4-9: x2
Level 10-15: x3
Level 16+: x4

- May use Smoke Bead ability once per day every 4 levels (starts at 2 level with one use).

- May use Bone Slug ability once per day every 4 levels (starts at 3 level with one use).

- May use Bone Dust ability once per day every 4 levels (starts at 4 level with one use).

Disadvantages:
- Incurs a -4 penalty to Charisma.
- May not wear armor heavier than splint mail.
- May achieve Grand Mastery (five slots) only with the following weapons: long sword, short sword, katana, scimitar, dagger, club.
- May only become Proficient (one slot) in any other weapon.
- May only become Proficient (one slot) in any fighting style.
- Alignment restricted to evil.

rar archive = 85 mb

How to install:
There are 3 folders in the archive: "override", "kit" and "install". Put them all in your BGEE directory (Baldur's Gate Enhanced Edition\Data\00766). You need to override your override folder (sorry for that), but it shouldn't override most of your files, I guess. Mostly area files are there.
Then copy the setup-xxx.exe and xxx.tp2 files from the "kit" and "install" folders to the BGee directory and install "kit" and then the main "install".
I did this because I was planning to use the new kit in BG2EE too. If you want to try it in BG2EE - no problem. Simple copy the "kit" folder to your BG2EE directory and install it, it should work.
