HELP! Mod Install Order

Hello, I need help, I'm trying to mod BGEE BGIIEE and IWDEE, when I was a wee little happy geek I played the originals but didn't know about mods. Now that I bought the Enhanced Editions, I wish to play the mods but every time I try a new install order I get an error. Please help me! I'm going to list the mods I've downloaded with their forum link and tell me if they're the same you have, then what order did you used; or if not then what order of installation you recommend.

IWD NPC v5 for IWD:EE is now available!

I've finally uploaded the mod on the official site: http://www.pocketplane.net/iwdnpc , and the mod now features correct, IWD:EE-sized portraits.

The readme should have all the necessary information:

But let me tell you what to expect, just in case:

- five companions, three male, two female;
- alternate classes available to pick a more balanced party(check the readme);
- two male and two female romances for human, elven and half-elven protagonists;
- lots of banter in every area, including interparty banter and dialogues with the protagonist;
- player-initiated dialogue(and plenty of it for romance interests - 15 extra conversations for each romance interest, if I remember correctly);
- interjections in IWD, HoW and TotL;
- I recommend to visit HoW after Chapter 3 or Chapter 4, but feel free to pick your own pace.

Getting a kit mod to work with IWD EE

So, I've wanted for quite some time to try this kit (Morituri) in IWD EE:

Thing is, it won't work with IWD. I recall someone saying that it takes only a small modification to make this work, because the engine is basically the same. I have next to no knowledge about scripting, so could I ask anyone to modify this and upload it on the forum?

I wouldn't be asking this if the changes that need to be made are big and/or time consuming, so if my assumption is wrong, sorry about that and let's forget the whole thing.

Individual Player record screen

I don't think this is possible, but just throwing this out there.

Has anyone been able to put any information (Tokens) onto the record screen that corresponds with the selected character? IE, lets say I wanted to add a new stat I am tracking with scripts. I want it to display on the character record screen, but just for that character selected. Right now I can put up the stat, but it's for all players because I can't tell the script to check to see who is currently highlighted/selected.

Mod: Katana Two-Handed Animation

Hello, this mod contains the animations for the two-handed Katana attacks. There is a set of overhead and backhand swing for each of the large, medium and small humanoid sizes. The animation was modified from the existing two-handed sword animations and re-drawn to resemble a Katana instead.


How to get it to work:
1. Download the zip below.
2. Unzip the file and drop the contents into the override folder.
3. Run the game and acquire the normal katana +0, equip it and slash away at your party members.

Provided you don't use the "Cleric Kit Penalties" and "Druid Kit Penalties" components this kitpack should be compatible with other mods.

[MOD] Custom NPC Kits

There is a lot of redundancy within NPCs in BG1 and BG2. Think Imoen/Alora [BG1], Faldorn/Jaheira [BG1], Nalia/Imoen [BG2] and the trinity of Keldorn/Anomen/Mazzy [BG2]. Unfortunately, one of the NPCs is often far superior (how many times have you taken Alora over Imoen?) and thus the other sits in their predetermined spawning point and is never utilized.

Similarly, the generic classes of BG1 (and even some of the NPC classes in BG2) leave little to talk about in the story-telling department. Imoen learns her thief skills by adventuring and skulking around Candlekeep, whereas Alora learned hers through a life of burglary in Baldur's Gate. Despite the difference in their lives and talents, the two characters share an identical, generic kit.

I was inspired by Gibberlings 3's NPC Kitpack (http://gibberlings3.net/npckit/) which gave some of the characters a much needed kit upgrade that incorporated their background and gave them unique abilities.

My goal with this mod is to do something similar to G3's mod, but expand it so that most (if not all) of the NPCs in the games receive kits that are both more appropriate to their background and make them more interesting to bring along. In doing so, I hope to encourage the use of some of the oft forgotten characters.

[MOD] Improved Archer Kit (for BGEE, BG2EE, IWD:EE and original BG2/BGT)

Overview

The original Archer kit does not scale very well with progressing levels. While the kit is very strong in the early parts of the game, it becomes less useful later on. This mod attempts to improve the kit by giving the Archer a couple more features which make the kit interesting even against very powerful enemies.

Components

The mod includes two components (since v2.0):

1. Improved Archer Kit (supports BG2:ToB, BGT, BG:EE, BG2:EE and IWD:EE)
- Installs the Archer kit

2. Add +4 arrows, bolts and two powerful bows to the game (supports BG2:ToB, BGT, BG2:EE and IWD:EE)
BGT, BG2 and BG2:EE only:
  - Adds +4 arrows and bolts to a number of stores and creatures in the ToB part of the game as well as to Watcher's Keep.
  - Adds a powerful longbow somewhere to the first level of Watcher's Keep
  - Adds an even more powerful composite longbow to the outdoor area of Sendai's Enclave
IWD:EE only:
  - Adds two powerful bows and a few +4 arrows and bolts to Conlan's shop in Kuldahar after reaching Chapter 4

Each component can be installed independently.

Kit Description

[spoiler]ARCHER: The Archer is the epitome of skill with the bow-the ultimate marksman, able to make almost any shot, no matter how difficult. To become so skilled with the bow, the Archer has had to sacrifice some of his proficiency with melee weapons and armor.

Advantages:
- +1 to hit and damage rolls with any missile weapon every 3 levels.
- +1 to AC vs. missile weapons every 6 levels.
- May achieve Grandmastery (5 slots) in longbows, shortbows, and crossbows.
- May use Rooting Shot ability once per day every 4 levels. Can not be used together with other shot abilities.
- May use Power Shot ability once per day every 4 levels, starting at level 8. Can not be used together with other shot abilities.
- May use Explosive Shot ability once per day every 4 levels, starting at level 8. Can not be used together with other shot abilities.

  16th level: 1d4+4 damage to nearby targets
  20th level: 1d4+6 damage to nearby targets
Caution: Damages enemies, allies and innocent bystanders alike.

CREATE BLESSED AMMUNITION: Create a spiritual arrow or bolt blessed by the Archer's worshipped god or goddess for 8 hours containing a score of charges.
  4th level: +1 enchantment, +1 to hit and damage rolls, additional 1d6 damage and slow for two rounds to undead if failed save vs. Death.
  8th level: +1 enchantment, +2 to hit and damage rolls, additional 1d6+2 damage and hold for two rounds to undead if failed save vs. Death.
  12th level: +2 enchantment, +2 to hit and damage rolls, additional 1d6+4 damage and instant death to undead if failed save vs. Death.
  16th level: +3 enchantment, +3 to hit and damage rolls, additional 1d6+6 damage and instant death to undead if failed save vs. Death at -2 penalty.
  20th level: +4 enchantment, +4 to hit and damage rolls, additional 1d6+8 damage and instant death to undead if failed save vs. Death at -4 penalty.

Disadvantages:
- -1 CON penalty.
- May not wear any metal armor.
- May only become Proficient (one slot) with melee weapons.


Furthermore, the Archer gains access to two special HLAs (BGT, BG2 and BG2:EE only):
- Missile Trap allows the Archer to set a powerful spring-loaded missile trap in the chosen location when no hostile creatures are in sight. It does 3d10 missile damage and each 1d10 damage of various elemental types to the unsuspecting creature that sets it off.
- The Sure Shot ability calls forth every bit of skill and experience to target vital areas of the opponent with frightening speed and precision. By enabling this ability, the Archer takes up his/her stance and shoots missiles in rapid succession. For the next 12 seconds this ability sets one's number of attacks per round to 10 and every shot is considered a critical hit. Since this technique requires utmost skill and concentration, the Archer is rooted to the spot for the next two rounds. It can not be used together with other shot abilities.

The elves of Evereska are known for their isolationism as much as their skill and bravery in battle. One of their most well known warriors in human lands was the incredibly accurate archer Bariah Goldendown. Though the elves will neither confirm nor deny the legend, some human tales state that keen-eyed Bariah never missed a target in battle. His bow, crafted by his mother, was never given a name that was known outside of the family. The humans that suffered under its power called it "Great Sun-Reacher," believing that Bariah's arrows could reach into the heavens themselves. In a battle that many Evereskans are bitter about to this day, Bariah's griffon mount was killed in the sky by the spells of invisible wizards that ambushed an elven patrol. Though only one mage escaped with his life, he did manage to take Great Sun-Reacher with him.

So I've tried to install the mod "Ascension" using the instructions and I'm aware of the known problems the enhanced edition has (I resolved the "dialog.tlk" problem), but I have come across another problem I can't find anywhere on the forums:

When I run the Setup-Ascension.EXE, I get offered my choice of language then it asks me what to do with the 6 uninstalled components: "[I]nstall them, [S]kip them, [A]sk about each one?". When I select "install them" or "ask about each one" the client tells me, "I cannot find [Data/25Dialog.bif], which leads me to believe that you do not have the Throne of Bhaal expansion installed. You must have ToB installed to use install the Ascenion mod."

If I look into the "Data" folder, the "25Dialog.bif" file exists, so I'm stumped.
How do I resolve this issue?

Hi folks!

I've been working for some time on a mod that lets you tag along a djinni. He is in dire need of help, is involved in several exciting quests, has lots of banters with your character and he joins your party in a very unusual way.

I think that he's now ready to be released into the wild. But a mod of this size needs to be thoroughly tested first. That's why I'm looking for playtesters. If anyone is interested in helping me out, just let me know by dropping me a PM, posting in this thread or (preferably) over at Spellhold Studios.

A Challenge in spell writing

Hello,

So I'm taking on a challenge and trying to create a particular spell. But there are certain things about DLTCEP that I am unfamiliar with. The spell I want to make is an area effect spell that works similar to skull trap, glyph of warding and that stuff. I want to use the BAM file SPCHROMI as the visual basis of the spell. What I want the spell to do is for the globe to fly to the designated place of casting and then hover there, where it will dominate the minds of enemies within its area of effect who don't make a saving throw or are resistant to magic. so.... a rather big task for me. Who wants to take on a spell writing challenge with me?

The program can be found on SourceForge (link below), and this post will be updated with links when a new version is ready. Some details of usage can be found within the Wiki on the Keeper SourceForge page). If people have free time, feel free to add to it for the benefit of others.

Unless otherwise stated, an archive unpacker will be required in order to open the RAR archive.

The source code for EE Keeper can be found here. The Visual Studio solution is for VS2012, so you will need that in order to do anything (or you could make a quick edit to the solution so it will load in older versions).

imageEE Keeper* uses MFC (Microsoft Foundation Class), which means that you will need a standard version of Visual Studio, rather than an express version. Even if you don't, but you have programming knowledge and would like to help, then over the course of the next few months the plan I have is to convert all the code to be Unicode friendly. The second part of the plan is to convert to Win32 or (better yet) use Qt or wxWidgets to make it cross-platform friendly. Either way, feel free to post your coding suggestions. I will also be taking suggestions, but please keep them realistic. I don't have a lot of time to spare on this project and so any suggestions will likely take weeks or months to implement; keep them short and sweet, modifications to the UI, tweaks, etc.

*Since EE Keeper seems to be the widely accepted name, that's what it is called officially. However, anyone can call it whatever they like.

Compatibility

Mac This is a big question for a lot of people. The answer is that it is not officially supported. Some trials on Mac via Wineskin, by @Nifft, have been done and it seems to work, depending on the version - it will be up to others to help with that should any issues arise. More details here. @AstroBryGuy, has recently started creating wrappers for new versions of EE Keeper. Please note that a new wrapped version will be released behind the Windows version; it requires that he gets the latest version and then create and upload a wrapper. For future builds I will be submitting one to him sooner so that he can have it wrapped and uploaded in conjunction with the Windows release.

Linux Though not ideal, Keeper works with the use of Wine and it functions well enough. To load different languages, environmental variables may need to be set; e.g. Exec=env LC_ALL=zh_CN.UTF-8 WINEPREFIX="[location of wine]" wine '[location of file]'.

Windows The current version, 1.0.2.4, should work on everything from XP to Windows 8. If you encounter a problem, please see the details below on reporting it any problems you find.

As a final note: just because a new thread is made, and the release is more of a Live/REL version, it doesn't mean that the program is bug free, nor does it mean that I won't be tweaking it any more (I will). If you come across any issues, or you are in doubt over something, feel free to post and either myself of some other helpful community member will try to help overcome it. If you find something, and you're certain that it's a bug (i.e. portraits not displaying when they should), feel free to create a ticket for it here. If the ticket is not a bug, but a misunderstanding, then it will be moderated as such. Feature requests can also be made, just set the 'Report Type' option to 'Feature Request'. When trying to bring a bug to my attention, please specify what platform you are using (Mac or Windows) and exactly what you are or were trying to do at the time of the bug.

I am looking to making a misdirection spell/skill. One that, once it is activated, it makes any enemies currently attacking you go somewhere else for a short time. Does anyone know how this can be done with states? Would setting yourself to STATE_NONDETECTION for like 5 seconds effectively do this?

Alora NPC Mod issues.

So using the Alora NPC mod (http://www.baldursgatemods.com/forums/index.php?PHPSESSID=42C2dtOKkV1Lihwfs1gaQ3&topic=359.0) using the BG2:EE version but when I talk to Alora I get an Invalid code instead of dialogue D:

Did I install it wrong is it simply out of date?

If out of date, I may just try my hand at modding to fix it and expand upon it n_n (granted I learn how to mod and stuff; I have zero knowledge). Alora is definitely my fav npc and would love to have more of her.

Edit: I installed it by dragging the files within the Alora folder into the directory and then used the exe to install. It said success but I still have the error code @_@

Do I need to drag files within the Alora sub-folder into a place other than the directory?

So I know there are some things mods can and can't do, based on the games hard coding.

So can mods alter existing classes considerably? Or only kits?

Would it be possible to make a Fighter kit identical to the Monk class, thus allowing you to to play a dual classed Monk? Or even Multiclassed like how Gnomes can be Illusionist/X? Or with Keeper?

Same Question but a Sorcerer as a Mage Kit?

Or to possibly rewrite the base Fighter and/or Mage to be identical to the Monk and/or Sorcerer to simply make a multiclass Fighter/Mage act as a Sorcerer/Monk?

Or could XP Tables be changed for kits? Thus, create your own Monk/Sorc Kit under a class and modify the XP required for level up to slow your progression? Or set something to reduce XP earned for the Kit or CHARNAME only?

Any thoughts? Thanks!
