[MOD] The Power of Belief

$
0
0
The Power of Belief makes it possible for the Nameless One to become a Priest (while maintaining their Fighter, Mage and Thief levels).

The newest version of this mod is available on GitHub.

Features

This mod is being actively developed, and will be expanded as my free time permits. Currently, the mod consists of a few extra dialog lines that allow the Nameless One to become a Priest, specialization bonuses for reaching 7th or 12th level as a Priest, two new tattoos available only for a Priest-specialized Nameless One, and changes to a handful of Maces and Warhammers to make them usable by Priest Nameless Ones.

The Nameless One can gain access to the Priest class by speaking to Mourns-for-Trees after encountering them during Mebbeth's quest or by becoming a Disciple of Aoskar while talking to Aola. Should the Nameless One step off the path of faith, they can speak to either Mourns-for-Trees or Fall-from-Grace to resume progression in the Priest class.

The specialization bonuses are:
- 7th level: +1 Wisdom
- 12th level: +2 Wisdom, +1 Charisma, +10% Magic Resistance

The Priest specialiation tattoos, available from Fell, are:
- Tattoo of Belief: +1 Wisdom, +1 1st and 2nd priest spell slot. (Costs 3600 coppers; requires 7th level Priest Specialization.)
- Tattoo of the Hierophant: +3 Wisdom, Doubled 1st and 2nd level priest spells slots. (Costs 12000 coppers; requires 12th level Priest specialization.)

This mod is currently available in English, Russian (courtesy of Saigon1983), and Polish (courtesy of mstar).

Upcoming Changes

I am currently working on the following features:
- New divine spells.
- New spell acquisition methods (including alignment, factions, and quests).
- New items for Priests, including The Nameless One and Fall-from-Grace.

Features listed above will be pushed to the live version when I am satisfied with stability and behavior. If you have ideas for future updates to this mod, please let me know in the comments.

Technical Limitations

I am aware of the following inconsistencies and do not believe there are ways to prevent them, as much of the class system in PSTEE is hardcoded.

- Whenever the Nameless One changes between Fighter and Priest (e.g. switching their first active class between these two), there is a slight pause as the game determines the previous active class' experience. During this pause, you will enter cutscene mode, hiding the UI and preventing player input. Control will be returned upon conclusion of the xp check.

- If you get the Priest specialization bonuses, the game will still tell you that you have received the specialization bonuses for other classes. These should all be automatically counteracted via scripting (and some text explaining that specialization bonuses have been negated), but the display might be slightly confusing.

Want to Help?

I am looking for BAM editors/artists and translators. If you are either of these and want to help with the development of this mod, please send me a private message.

Feedback

If you encounter any bugs while using this mod, please let me know.

As with all of my mods, if you have any ideas, comments, or criticism, please do not hesitate to post in this thread.

Epilogue SoD - Imoen is missing!

Ok guys,

I'm at the very end of SoD and Imoen doesn't show up. The only NPCs in the map are Khalid, Jaheira, Minsc, and Dynaheir.

They have no special dialogue and I can't go anywhere because every area in the world map is labeled as "unreachable".

I was googling for an answer and found this thread on Gibberlings3 forum where someone pointed that the problem is using EET without Big World Fixpack being installed.

The here are the problems:

1) I did this install using Big World Setup, so BWF was probably installed.

2) Imoen was never chunked by the assassins in Ducal Palace, during BGEE or ever.

Can someone help me with this?

Thanks!

Here's how to use custom portraits

Well, I guess the thread title is self-explanatory. This is an updated and expanded version of the original post, which I hope will be lot more helpful.

Many many thanks to everyone who contributed to this thread with further advice and/or questions.

1. PORTRAIT FILES

1.1 Image file format

Portraits for BG:EE are 24-bit bitmaps (.BMP). You can save images in this format using practically any image editor such as MSPaint, Adobe Photoshop or GIMP. (Check Item 6 for more info on how to properly convert your image)

1.2 Image file dimensions

UPDATE: you can now use a single large portrait, which will be resized to fit the other screens. The optimal size is 210x330 pixels. Keep it at a minimum of 169x266, to prevent blurred images.

Images can be larger than that, but no wider than 1024 pixels. Also try to keep it proportional to the dimensions that have just been mentioned, otherwise, the image will be "squeezed" and may look distorted. (Check Item 6 for more info on how to properly crop your image)

The deprecated directions are still valid and are useful if you'd like your character to have different images for each screen (or, in IWD style, different crops):

To use a custom portrait, you need 3 versions of an image (only 2 are required, though) with different dimensions (width x height, in pixels):

Large - 210x300 (not required - character creation screen)
Medium - 169x266 (for the character record screen)
Small - 54x84 (for the right sidebar of the game screen)

1.3 Image file naming conventions

You can name your portraits however you want, as long as you follow these rules:

· NO spaces.
· Between 1 and 7 characters (not counting the size letter, see below)
· End with the letter L, M or S, according to size.

e.g.: mulderL.bmp (large), scullyM.bmp (medium), krycekS.bmp (small).

2. THE "PORTRAITS" FOLDER

In order for your portraits to show up in BG:EE, you must place them in an specific folder, named "Portraits" (without quotes). This folder is not created when the game is installed, so you must create it yourself.

2.1 Where to create your "Portraits" folder

On Windows: go to your User(s) folder. You know, the one that has My Music, My Pictures, and so on. Now follow this path: My Documents > Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition. That's where you must create your Portraits folder.

3. USING CUSTOM PORTRAITS

Once you have the right files on the right folder, all you have to do is select the portrait inside the game.

3.1 On a new character

When creating a new character, once you're prompted to select his or her portrait, you will notice a button labeled "CUSTOM" now shows up on the screen.

This button will take you to the screen shown below, where you'll be able to select the Medium and Small portraits. They're not required to match - you can use different M and S portraits for one character if you so desire.

(hit the spoiler button to see image)
image

The Large portrait will be selected automatically according to the Medium one, or ignored (if there is no L version).

3.2 On a previously created character

If you're already playing a character and want to change it's portrait, go to his/her Record screen and hit the button labeled "CUSTOMIZE", then "APPEARANCE".

Once you're prompted to select his or her portrait, you will notice a button labeled "CUSTOM" now shows up on the screen.

This button will take you to the screen shown below, where you'll be able to select the Medium and Small portraits. They're not required to match - you can use different M and S portraits for one character if you so desire.

The Large portrait will be selected automatically according to the Medium one, or ignored (if there is no L version).

3.3 On an exported character

Changing the portrait of an exported character is just a little trickier. There are two ways you can do so:

3.3.1 Via importing/re-exporting

Import your character into a new game (or into a loaded multiplayer game), and then follow the steps on 3.2. After doing so, you can export it again so it'll remember your portrait selection.

3.3.2 Using a game editor

You can also use EEKeeper. Open your exported character using the program and click the "Change Portrait" button. You will notice your custom portraits are now listed along the others.

4. HOW TO CHANGE NPC PORTRAITS

As you probably already know, it's not possible to edit a NPC's portrait or soundset using the Customize menu under their record screen.

If you want to do it, however, you don't really need to use a game editor. There's a simple method that will not only apply to any game (new or previously saved), but it's easily reversible.

All you need is to have portraits that use certain specific file names which will be recognized by the game as the original portraits and be shown instead.

These files can be put on your Portraits folder. In fact, be careful not to use these names if you don't want to change a NPC's portrait. Though you will be able to select it for your character, the substitution will still occur.

To revert the process, simply rename or remove the files from your Portraits folder.

Hit the spoiler button to view the list of NPCs and their respective file names:
Ajantis - AJANTISL.bmp, AJANTISM.bmp, AJANTISS.bmp
Alora - ALORAL.bmp, ALORAM.bmp, ALORAS.bmp
Baeloth - BAELOTHL.bmp, BAELOTHM.bmp, BAELOTHS.bmp
Branwen - BRANWENL.bmp, BRANWENM.bmp, BRANWENS.bmp
Coran - CORANL.bmp, CORANM.bmp, CORANS.bmp
Dorn - DORNL.bmp, DORNM.bmp, DORNS.bmp
Dynaheir - DYNAHEIL.bmp, DYNAHEIM.bmp, DYNAHEIS.bmp
Edwin - EDWINL.bmp, EDWINM.bmp, EDWINS.bmp
Eldoth - ELDOTHL.bmp, ELDOTHM.bmp, ELDOTHS.bmp
Faldorn - FALDORNL.bmp, FALDORNM.bmp, FALDORNS.bmp
Garrick - GARRICKL.bmp, GARRICKM.bmp, GARRICKS.bmp
Imoen - IMOENL.bmp, IMOENM.bmp, IMOENS.bmp
Jaheira - JAHEIRAL.bmp, JAHEIRAM.bmp, JAHEIRAS.bmp
Kagain - KAGAINL.bmp, KAGAINM.bmp, KAGAINS.bmp
Khalid - KHALIDL.bmp, KHALIDM.bmp, KHALIDS.bmp
Kivan - KIVANL.bmp, KIVANM.bmp, KIVANS.bmp
Minsc - MINSCL.bmp, MINSCM.bmp, MINSCS.bmp
Montaron - MONTARL.bmp, MONTARM.bmp, MONTARS.bmp
Neera - NEERAL.bmp, NEERAM.bmp, NEERAS.bmp
Quayle - QUAYLEL.bmp, QUAYLEM.bmp, QUAYLES.bmp
Rasaad - RASAADL.bmp, RASAADM.bmp, RASAADS.bmp
Safana - SAFANAL.bmp, SAFANAM.bmp, SAFANAS.bmp
Shar-Teel - SHARTEL.bmp, SHARTEM.bmp, SHARTES.bmp
Skie - SKIEL.bmp, SKIEM.bmp, SKIES.bmp
Tiax - TIAXL.bmp, TIAXM.bmp, SKIES.bmp
Viconia - VICONIAL.bmp, VICONIAM.bmp, VICONIAS.bmp

Example: placing IMOENM.bmp and IMOENS.bmp on your portraits folder will make Imoen use these portraits instead of the original.

5. TROUBLESHOOTING

5.1 My custom portraits don't show up at all! (may or may not include: The "CUSTOM" button on the portrait selection isn't even there!)

Are they in the right folder? Double-check the path and if yes, make sure there aren't any typos on the folder name.

Was the game running before you put them there? If you change the contents of the Portraits folder while the game is running, you need to restart it in order for any changes or additions to be applied.

5.2 The file names show up but not the portraits - all I see is a blue silhouette with a question mark!

Make sure the files are 24-bit bitmaps.

If you are using MSPaint, the program will often save .bmp files as 32-bit, even if you specifically select the "24-bit bitmap" file format.

Simply changing the extension of .JPG images will not work. Open up the files in an image editor and save them as bitmaps.

If you're not sure on how to do that, read the next section.

6. A QUICK GUIDE ON EDITING AND SAVING IMAGES

If you're having problems saving or resizing your custom portraits, here are a few tips:

6.1 Resizing and proportions

To learn how to resize an image using MSPaint, check out this link (thanks to @SableRhapsody).

Now, most of the times the image you want to use as a portrait is not on the right proportions, and you most likely don't want it to be all streched or distorted when you save it. So how do we get around that?

You need to edit the image so it'll better "fit" inside the portrait dimensions. Using MSPaint to do that isn't the most practical way (you'll find out why soon enough), but if you really want to try, @Dee posted a quick guide right here.

Truth is, you are better off using a more sophisticated image editor. It doesn't take a graphic designer to do simple resizing and cropping - only patience and a few minutes to learn. I'll give you some tips on how to do it using free software - I figure if you are an Adobe Photoshop user, you don't need help with this.

6.1.1 Using Paint.net

(coming soon)

6.1.2 Using GIMP

GIMP is a free (and pretty powerful) image editor. In fact, it might be overkill for the task at hand (it's a 70MB download and it'll take around 150MB once installed), but it's a nice option if you also want to start fiddling around with other stuff (brightness, contrast, colors, etc). However, that's beyond the scope of this guide, at least for now.

To make a portrait using GIMP, follow these steps (hit the spoiler buttons to see the images):

1) Start by clicking File > New. This will open a "Create a New Image" window, where you'll set the file's width to 210 and the height to 330. Keep every other option as it is and hit OK. Now you have a window that looks like this:
image

2) Go to the folder where the image you want to edit is. Click the file and drag it into the GIMP window, more specifically, into the image area (trust me, it'll work). Once you do that, you should see only part of the image inside the portrait dimensions. Don't worry, we're making progress.
image

3) Now, take a look at the right part of the screen. There's a small window there named "Layers - Brushes", right? Notice that now that you've dragged your image into GIMP, there's a layer there named after your original image. In my case, here, it's "wizard". Make sure this layer is selected by clicking on it.
image

4) Now, take a look at the left part of the screen. There's a rather tall window there named "Toolbox - Tool Options". What we want to click there is the MOVE tool, which is highlighted on the next image. Click that icon.
image

5) Now try clicking and dragging inside your new portrait area. You will notice this area is actually a canvas, or a bounding box. Although not completely visible, the entire image is still there. Move it around until it's "framed" exactly as you want. If you want to zoom out and show more of the image, follow the next step.

6) To resize your layer, select the SCALE tool (highlighted on the next image) by clicking on the icon and then click anywhere on the image. You will notice a small "Scale" window showed up, and the layer is fully visible, with a grid over it. Click on one of the layer's corners and drag it to resize it. If you hold CTRL, the aspect ratio will be kept, avoiding any distortions. Once it's done, you'll need to reposition your layer. Use the MOVE tool again as necessary.
image

7) Once you're happy with how your portrait looks, it's time to save it. Hit File > Export, and on the Export Image window's lower right corner, hit the dropbox that says "All Export Images" and select "Windows BMP Image (*.bmp)". Select the folder where you want to save it, type in an appropriate name and hit Export.
image

8) Now, before the image is saved, an "Export Image as BMP" window pops up. This is an important step - you need to expand the "Advanced Options" menu and select the "24 bits" option (R8 G8 B8). This will make sure the portrait works. Hit export and you're done...
image

9) ...or almost. We still need the other sizes, right? To resize a whole image in GIMP, go to Image > Scale Image. On the "Scale Image" window, edit the width and height according to the M and S dimensions. Notice that unless you click the little "chain" button, the other axis will automatically adjust to keep the image proportional. Sometimes the measurements will be off by one or two pixels (the medium image will be 169x267, and the small 54x85, for example). This is okay.

10) Once you resized the image, follow step 7 to export it again to another BMP file.

[WIP - NPC mod] Drake, priest of Tyr - v0.1 (pre-release) available

$
0
0
Another NPC I'm working on, because BG1 really needed a male cleric early on.

Race: Human
Class: Priest of Tyr
Alignment: Neutral Good

Strength: 17
Dexterity: 16
Constitution: 16
Intelligence: 11
Wisdom: 15
Charisma: 10

Overview

A rather crude, cynical and sarcastic cleric of Tyr who serves the Order of the Radiant Heart in Amn, sent to investigate the iron crisis. You'll find him drinking in Beregost and seeking adventurers for the task of eliminating the mad priest Bassilus. He's a man of many vices and often blasphemous, but is regardless devoted to justice and a strong hatred of all things evil.

He can be befriended by a non-evil PC and can be flirted with by a PC of either gender.

Drake's portrait was made by LavaDelVortel and edited with his permission.

Biography

"When asked about his past, DRAKE gives a sardonic laugh and responds that history would breathe easier if his past was left forgotten. A cleric of Tyr in his mid-thirties, second son of the Caulfield family, former ensign in the Amnian militia and, with a touch of irony when mentioning it, recruit of the Radiant Heart auxiliary, he considers himself 'that thing they can't get rid of' within the Order. He openly admits that his unorthodox views on the tenets of the Order as well as the distribution of justice makes him something of a social pariah with both his fellows of the Radiant Heart and his family, almost all of whom have a history of service within the Order. According to him, while him being stationed outside of Amn was officially a mission to root out evil that plagued the Sword Coast, he believes it was nothing more than a formal means of sending him away and allowing his superiors to forget about him. Such an assignment seems to be to his preference, however, as he believes justice is best served with the edge of a blade - or in his case, the head of a hammer."

[NPC MOD] Sheena - The Half Dragon Tale

Sheena - The Half Dragon Tale

Sheena's story begins in Firkraag's lair at level 8-10 in a prison cell next to Garren's child. Sheena is a neutral good half red dragon multiclass Fighter / Wizard. Her half dragon form is hidden most of the time (cities, forests...) to balance the game. Sheena is limited to two handed swords, quarterstaffs, halberds and darts (an animation limitation). Sheena's strength and constitution can not be raised by any item (potions and spells do work). Sheena has extensive banters with all Bioware NPCs, numerous interjections and a friendship path available to both male and female PCs. Sheena's flirts are available to male PCs of good and neutral alignment. She has also a small romance path (TOB like), which triggers if Mazzy is in the party, other romances are not active, you are through with the friendship talks and your character is of neutral or good alignment. Sheena leaves for good if is kicked out from your party.

[Work In Progress] Predator Of Undeads (Ranger Kit)

Predator of Undeads

Some rangers don't stay idle guarding one natural place against the hazards that comes against it. Some rangers choose to pursuit the danger, traveling to unholy places and facing the children of the night and the defilers of earth. The Predator of Undeads is one of these rangers.

The scent of death lurks deeply in a Predator. He loses some of his connection to nature, being unable to cast spells and incapable of calming animals. Every sentient being is capable of feeling that something is odd with this ranger, turning its social relations harder in general.

However, this scent is also channeled by the Predator to aid its mission. It can learn how to undo the ill effects that they often deliver and even temporarily shield itself against all the powers often used by them.

Due to the nature of their jobs, the Predator never wears metal armor. It's not rare a situation where it needs to crawl, hide, stalk and pursuit. And besides this, they are nomads and needs to travel lightly. Their weapons choice is also limited - it only studies those weapons that are especially effective against the undeads.

Advantages:

+3 Hit / +3 Damage against Undeads

Protection From Evil

Casts Cure Disease as a priest of the same level. Gains a use at level 2 and another every 4 levels up to three uses at level 10

Casts Remove Fear as a priest of the same level. Gains a use at level 2 and another every 4 levels up to three uses at level 10

Casts Remove Paralyze as a priest of the same level. Gains a use at level 2 and another every 4 levels up to three uses at level 10

Casts Negative Plane Protection as a priest of the same level. Gains a use at level 2 and another every 4 levels up to three uses at level 10

Casts Lesser Restoration as a priest of the same level. Gains a use at level 2 and another every 4 levels up to three uses at level 10

At level 15 gains the Strong Soul ability:

STRONG SOUL

The Predator of Undeads constantly faces death during its life. This kind of experience let him endure things that other warriors would not be capable of. During 10 Rounds it becomes immune to Charm, Fear, Hold, Level/Ability Drain and Death Magic.

At level 20 gains the Perfect Predator ability:

PERFECT PREDATOR

The Predator of Undeads is capable of turn himself invisible by the eyes of the undead. While this ability is activated every undead will completely ignore the Predator no matter what it does. The effect can be used once per day and lasts for 10 Rounds.

Disadvantages:

May only use Crossbow, Spears, Maces, Hammers, Longswords and Axes.
Alignment restricted to Neutral Good
Can't wear metal armor
-2 Charisma penalty
No Charm Animal
Can't cast spells

Remarks - please read!

Before you start to complain, you must acknowledge that due to nature of Baldur’s Gate mods,
community and rules especially about providing working hosting for mods and fixing mod bugs,
Big Word Setup itself is not capable to fix/improve some aspects of automated mod installation.
Despite our best efforts, you will face some minor problems.
It often depends of how many mods you trying to install.
Big World Setup is an overlay for Big World Project which itself is an overlay for mods.
Overlay for overlay for another overlay.

- BWS cannot fix mod bugs: there is Big World Fixpack, all mod fixes should be added to it
- BWS cannot change installation order: BWS use Big World Project from Leonardo Watson
- BWS cannot host mods: there will be always mods which fails to download, please ask author to provide proper link

You cannot distribute you mod via forum attachments. If you don't have you own hosting site, the best option is to use GitHub.com or please provide download links which:
- do not require chapta after several downloads (http://prntscr.com/6pk42t)
- do not advertise some adware/crapware/downloader etc
- do not expire after 30 or more days without download (every popular hosting site like speeedyshare, mediafire has such terms)
- do not require user interaction to be downloaded ( mediafire.com,googledrive.com has JavaScript download link generator that require user click)
- do not depend on the filename (dropbox.com/s/q72jpl132fj53lv/ModName-v1.zip?dl=1)
- do not depend on the file version if you enable SEO: mods.sitename.com/modnamev7 -> mods.sitename.com/modnamev7_1/
- it will not change when uploading/updated the same file
- it can be used by wget to check file size: wget.exe url --spider --no-check-certificate

Aran Whitehand (NPC)
(Comment from Ratatoskr589: Appears to work just fine. The only glitch I've noticed is that all the people in his new tavern were standing against the back wall when I returned and that's not a huge deal) http://www.gibberlings3.net/aranw/index.php

Alassa (NPC):
http://www.pocketplane.net/mambo/index.php?option=content&task=blogcategory&id=113&Itemid=84.
(Comment from Ratatoskr589: This one works with some caveats. First, you have to edit the tp2 file to remove the TOB requirement. Other than that, her portrait also needs to be resized and the "wait here" option when reorganizing your party didn't work for me.)

1. I know that he is CE, can he work with a non-evil party in much the same way that Dorn can (i.e. Dorn's quest is for revenge and the obviously evil things aren't until BG2) or Baeloth can (a surprisingly nice guy really) or Viconia (same argument as Baeloth, but more honor bound than nice)
2. I know he is Rakshasa, does the (insert species here) recognition text see him as that?
3. Does he have quests?

Keeping Yoshimo is now available for EE and Mac! (spoiler for newbies to BG2)

Warning: If you have never played BG2 there is a pretty major spoiler here. For the ideal gaming experience I would recommend that you back out of this thread now and play the game first, then return here afterward if you're curious about this mod.

At long last, thanks to @CrevsDaak the Gibberlings 3 mod Keeping Yoshimo is now available at Gibberlings 3 for download for BG2EE, both PC and Mac. In a nutshell, this mod
  • allows players to keep Yoshimo for the entire saga
  • adds dialogue re: Yoshi's betrayal of the PC (his spying b/c Irenicus' Geas)
  • adds an entirely new subplot for Yoshi with dialgoues and an encounter
  • adds a Tree of Life dialogue for Yoshimo
The download link on the page linked above will be updated in a day or two. But it will direct to this thread which provides the latest download and version updates, and links to report bugs and compatibility issues with other mods.

This mod has modest aims. Basically, it allows you to keep Yoshimo to the end of ToB. In order to do that a new story was created, a subplot for Yoshimo if you will. It consists of dialogues about why Yoshimo cannot join you for your excursion to Spellhold. Yoshimo removes himself from the party in Brynlaw and then rejoins the party after you have completed Spellhold. We also decided to add an encounter (battle) just for fun. The mod also includes the option to change Yoshimo's alignment to Chaotic Good.

If you can give this mod a go and provide feedback either at the G3 forum or here if that's easier for you, we will greatly appreciate it!

Major props to @CrevsDaak for taking this on. The mod has languished in Alpha status at G3 for the last five years due to lack of a coder, and Crevs graciously stepped up to update it for EE and Mac. I wish we could give him a boatload of promotes for it, but he clearly deserves at least one!

[MOD] Verr'Sza NPC (for BGEE and SoD)

$

I prepared something for those who believed there are too little evil fighters for BGEE and SoD (well, it was mostly about SoD). So here is Verr'Sza, the evil rakshasa ranger (it has his own kit, as most hunter kits won't work for someone like him).

Alignment: Chaotic Evil, Neutral Evil in SoD
Class: Ranger (Naztharune Ranger)
Race: Rakshasa

==> OVERVIEW

The mod introduces a new companion for BG1 - Verr'Sza, an evil rakshasa hunter. He may join your group in early BG1EE and stay with the group until the very end of Siege of Dragonspear expansion. He may be recruited in one of the rooms within the Friendly Arm Inn, but you must free him from a certain state first. He starts at 3rd level, so if you prefer having team members on more or less similar levels, it may be a good idea not to recruit him right after leaving Candlekeep.

The mod includes some go-and-kill quests, as well as a romance for both male and female characters (the only condition is not being of Lawful Good alignment). Although it's technically a romance, Verr'Sza isn't a very romantic character. It's more a matter of making him respect you and not trying to bind him in any way. He shouldn't be compared to Dorn, though. He may be protective in his twisted and blunt way.

Note that the mod may include language considered blunt or inappropriate for kids.

Mod was designed to work on EE. Never tried it on Tutu or BGT.
Consider this an open beta. There may still be some bugs.

==> NUMBER OF TALKS:

original campaign:
  • ~15 non-romantic talks (5 timered / timer-related talks; 10 situational talks)
  • ~11 romantic talks (mostly timered / timer-related talks)
  • at least 1 banter talk with every NPC, including EE NPCs (Neera, Dorn, Rasaad, Baeloth)
  • Some additional information and flirts available via the PIDs (player initiated dialogues)
  • some interjections
Siege of Dragonspear DLC:
  • ~6 non-romantic talks (3 timered / timer-related talks; 3 situational talks)
  • ~4 romantic talks (timered / timer-related talks / situational) + an "epilogue" talk
  • additional romantic content available through a 3rd character (available in Bhaalspawn's camps; ~5 talks)
  • Thrix the Profane reaction
  • few "head string" talks with other NPCs

The mod includes crossmod talks with Sirene NPC.

NOTE ON THE ROMANCE: If you want to romance Verr'Sza, you must suggest closure on your own. You may do it during one of the friend talks or in a "drunk talk". To trigger a drunk talk, make sure Verr'Sza is really drunk. He will start a talk then in which you may "dare" him.

[How to] Making kit mods for the EE!

How to: Making kit mods for the Enhanced Editions!

First, you'll need to a little about WeiDU and have some skills in using NearInfinity (or DLTCEP), I am not going to give an introduction to any of this things, I assume you do know how to make custom spells (.spl), items (.itm) and tinkering with effect (.eff) files and tables (.2da). (Also, I refer all the time to using NearInfinity, but if you use DLTCEP it's the same. It is just that I use NearInfinity and wrote it that way because I'm dumb.)

Second, be sure you register your own modding signature here, so none of your files clash with other mod's. Skip this if you have done so already.

Third, to make a kit mod, you need to have some things done by your own, they are:
  • The spells for the abilities of the kit, both the innate abilities and the passive abilities are coded as spells (mind the permanent duration effect and undispellability on the latter).
  • The CLAB*.2DA, this is the file that applies and gives the spells at level up.
  • (optional) The LU*.2DA table, needed for High Level Abilities, works like the CLAB*.2DA but has a different way of listing the entries.
  • (optional) The HP*.2DA table, if you want, you can determine your kit's hit point gain rate with this table.
  • (optional) new icons for the new Innate abilities/spells.
For the spells, I recommend making the with NearInfity, unless you are good enough with WeiDU to edit them on-the-run. When working on spells to be applied to the character and treated as Passive Abilities (like a Kensai's AC bonus at level one), be sure to put the Timing to instant/permanent (9).

When you are creating the CLAB*.2DA, I recommend making it 50 columns long (up to level 50), since BG2Tweaks has a component to extend the levels up to that point, and it avoids possible bugs with other mods that read the CLAB table. A CLAB*.2DA file should look like this (this one was cut because of its length):
2DA V1.0
****
1 2 3 4 5 6 7
ABILITY1 GA_SPCL213 GA_SPCL212 GA_SPCL212 GA_SPCL212 GA_SPCL212 GA_SPCL212 GA_SPCL212
ABILITY2 GA_SPCL212 GA_SPCL213 GA_SPCL213 GA_SPCL213 GA_SPCL213 GA_SPCL213 GA_SPCL213
ABILITY3 GA_SPCL212 **** **** **** **** **** ****
ABILITY4 GA_SPCL212 **** **** **** **** **** ****
ABILITY5 GA_SPCL212 **** **** **** **** **** ****
ABILITY6 AP_SPCL241 **** **** **** **** **** ****
ABILITY7 AP_SPCL242 **** **** **** **** **** ****
This is a Paladin CLAB (the Undead Hunter's). Each GA_SPELLNAME gives the mentioned spell to the creature just once (this is used for things like the Kensai's Kai ability), while AP_SPELLNAME applies the spell to the creature once, with a permanent timing. This is used for Passive Abilities like the Kensai's damage and AC bonus.

If you need more rows, just add them manually with NearInfinity (or with your favourite text editor) with an ABILITY8 (and then 9, 10, etc) name on column 1 (up to column 50).

For the LU*.2DA, you can just give WeiDU the name of the vanilla LU*.2DA file you want to use, or create your own.

Here's an example of a LU*.2DA:
2DA V1.0
*
ABILITY ICON STRREF MIN_LEV MAX_LEVEL NUM_ALLOWED PREREQUISITE EXCLUDED_BY ALIGN_REST

24 * * * * * * * * *
The GA_ and AP_ stuff from CLAB*.2DA files is the same here.

The MIN_LEV is the level the character has to be in order to pick the High Level Ability, and MAX_LEVEL is the level where you cannot choose this HLA anymore (don't use this unless it's necessary, just put 99 or preferably 127).

ALL_EVIL and ALL_GOOD are exclusion flags (ALL_NEUTRAL also works), here they are used for the Planetar/Deva summoning spells (since this one is a Cleric/Mage's LU files).

PREREQUISITE is the HLA you must have selected before so you can choose, for example, the "Extra level 7 Slot" requires the player to have chooses "Extra level 6 Slot" before.

EXCLUDED_BY is also used for the Planetar/Deva summoning spells, but this one does something different, if the ability denoted under EXCLUDED_BY was chosen, the player won't be able to pick the spell marked on EXCLUDED_BY later.

In the EE, the table can be 25 rows long, while in the original BG2 the maximum is still 24. If you want to add the 25th row on EE games only, IMO the best is to add this to your WeiDU code (before copying the 2da to the game):
APPEND_OUTER "path/to/your.2da" "25th line of the LU* file"
The HP*.2DA tables are much more simpler and shorter. They hold the information for the HP that has to be given to the creature on each level. Here's an example of the Rogue's:

It's pretty easy, from levels 1 to 10 (in the case of Warriors and Priests, it should be form levels 1 to 9, and 1 to 10 in the case of Wizards, too) the rouge is given 1d6 hit points, past that level, the Rouge will gain 2 HP every level up. It is recommended to make this table up to level 50 too. This table is completely optional and only needed if you want to change the Kit's HP/level.

Fourth, you're going to need something to install the mod, and WeiDU is the best one when doing this! If you are copy/pasting this, replace all of the "7C#KIT" with your kit's internal name and the directories, version and author fields with the according information.

These are the items the kit is going to get at the start of ToB. You can put a comma and the desired number for the item as well, but only if the item can be stacked (like Arrows and Gems). Please, refer to 25stweap.2da while working on these, because each column is a different inventory slot, and you can't put and ring on your neck nor a shield in your head (actually, don't worry, because nothing bad happens actually, only misplaced items. v1.3 used to crash on this though), so watch out.
~* * * BAG28 * * * BOOT01 AMUL17 * * AROW11,80 * * * * * DAGG12 SW1H28 *~

Before we continue with the EE extensions to kits, I'd like to add a few things. First, only one of the parameters (kit_name) for this function are mandatory, you don't have to provide the other ones if you do not intend in changing the kit's stats from the base class' stats.
LAF fl#add_kit_ee
This is the character's biography, you can leave it empty (I think) and you'll get the default one for the class. You can browse dialog.tlk for more interesting ones or add your own.
biography = 29492
This is a short description of the kit's strengths and weaknesses that is shown in the "pick a .chr" screen during character selection. As of v2.3, it might be used elsewhere, but I am not aware of any other use for this.
briefdesc = RESOLVE_STR_REF (~FIGHTER/CLERIC: This character can use the abilities of a Fighter and a Cleric, though weapons are restricted to only those allowed by the Cleric's ethos. They may Specialize in, but not Master, any weapon they can use.~)
Zero means the class cannot Fall, and one means the class can Fall like a Ranger or a Paladin do if their reputation drops low enough.
fallen = 0
This is the string that is displayed when you Fall and lose your class. You don't need to provide anything if the class can't become Fallen.
fallen_notice = RESOLVE_STR_REF (~Lost Class: Keksimus Maximus.~)
The kit's internal code name. You HAVE to provide the function with these, otherwise it won't know for which kit it needs to add all the other stuff. Also, let me leave something perfectly clear: this is the only argument you NEED to provide for a kit to work in the EE, the rest are all OPTIONAL.
kit_name = ~7C#KIT~
This is the backstab the character get per level, you can refer to backstab.2da to understand this better in case you find the example to be unclear. Only for Thief classes. If the kit you have in mind for thieves doesn't have backstab, don't worry, just write 40 1s separated by spaces.
backstab = ~1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9~
This is the information that rules several bonuses related to weapons. In the first entry we have a 1, that states that WPSTACK access will be enabled for this kit (this means that, the kit will receive the extra half APR Fighters get at levels 7 and 13 besides gaining APR from Specialisation and up. If you'd like to disable this, just drop in a zero instead.

The second entry, gives an extra half-APR every [NUMBER] levels while attacking unarmed. It is used for Monks, which receive it every 3 levels.

The third entry is the amount of THAC0 the character using this kit will receive when wielding a weapon they're not proficient with.
clswpbon = ~1 0 3~
This is the number of weapon slots shown in the inventory screen, you can't change the number of those found in the game screen.
numwslot = ~2~
This is the amount of Thieving Points the character gets to spend at level one, followed by the amount the can spend every level thereafter.
thiefskl = ~40 20~
This is the maximum amount of Thief traps the kit can set per area.
traplimt = 6
Each one of these numbers represent different palettes, so to choose the colours you'd like to use, you'll have to browse the palettes somehow (pick any item with opcode 7, for example, a splint mail, open it with NearInfinity, scroll down on the Edit tab, double click on the Effects using opcode 7, and click on the field that says Color index ## and pick whichever colour you please.

Now, the location of the colours in question is simple, the first one are the tiny bits of metal you have on yourself (for example, the human female mage animation has a coin-like thing on her belt which has it's colour ruled by this number), the second one is your character's Minor colour, the third one's your Major colour, the fourth's the colour of the leather the character wears (boots, straps and stuff like that as well) and the fifth is your armour's colour.
clascolr = ~35 67 67 25 80~
This is the bonus to thieving skills you get at level one. Check the file clasiskl.2da for their ordering.
clasiskl = ~10 10 10 10 10 10 10~
This one's a bit tricky. 100 means the character can spend thieving points normally on a certain thieving skill. 0 means they can't spend any points at all on that skill, and values in between zero and one hundred represent the reduction the kit receives to that certain thieving skill (please refer to thiefscl.2da for the ordering of the thieving skills). I am not sure about what happens if a Thief kit has less than 100 but more than 0 (because this is mostly used in the vanilla games to disable Shadowdancers from spending points on Set Traps, and reducing certain bard kits' pick pockets score), nor what happens if you set it at something like 200 or 150.
thiefscl = ~100 100 100 100 100 100 100 0~
This is the kit's HP*.2DA table, just as discussed before. Full name without extension.
hpclass = ~HP7C#K~
This determines which race can pick this kit at chargen. 1 means that race is able to, 0 that they aren't. The order is Humans, Elves, Half-Elves, Dwarves, Halflings, Gnomes and Half-Orcs.
clsrcreq = ~1 1 1 1 1 1 1~
This is a permanent bonus to THAC0 given at level one. Nothing in vanilla uses it I think.
clasthac = ~0~
These two lines are the one responsible for how Sneak Attack/Crippling Strike work. Please, just refer to the IwD:EE ones (I have no clue at all how this works, except that to nullify them (for example, for a kit that doesn't backstab), you have to use all 1s on sneakatt and all 0s on crippstr).
sneakatt = ~1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9 9~

This END closes out the LAF action started before.

[mod] Yoshimo Romance

After some time I decided to update Yoshimo Romance. In case you never heard about my rather old project:

Yoshimo Romance is a mod for BG2: SoA & ToB that makes Yoshimo, an infamous bounty hunter from original BG2 game, romanceable.
Already curious, my friend? Are you already pondering what this mod includes? What kind of ToB content? Ah, that's excellent. Your curiosity is already a kind of payback.

Mod includes 16 timered talks with Yoshimo (pre-Brynnlaw) plus those fired by circumstances - including talk in Brynnlaw and at the entrance of Spellhold. Those who love reading may also enjoy new dialogues for both male and female players fired by in-game events, PIDs and ToB part.

In this mod you will also find some new talks with Imoen (about Yoshimo), 3 talks with Anomen (romance conflict), 2 new cutscenes, new minor characters connected with the romance plot.

Mod also includes some items, a small and hidden in-game quest, new bam files and music tracks, as well as an area in ToB.

Romance Requirements:

To romance Yoshimo you must be an elven/half-elven/human/halfling/tiefling female of charisma 13 or higher.
To discover post-Brynnlaw content you must have succesfully completed pre-Brynnlaw content.

However note, that this mod DOES NOT change Yoshimo's original plot. His original BG2 story is what shaped the character and I decided that I won't change this. But even though he may not stand arm in arm with the Bhaalspawn later in game, that does not mean there is no post-Spellhold content or ToB content. It is, but developed differently than in most romances,

I'm uploading the new version here, as I couldn't reach the admin of the website where the mod is normally hosted and I can't upload it there on my own. Once he's back, the official download will be updated. Until then, use this file.

Enjoy!

[KIT MOD - MAGE + MONK] Shadow Magic v0.8.2

"There is a dark secret hidden within the walls of Candlekeep, forbidden to be spoken of among the scribes and monks even in hushed voices. A well of shadow magic, fueled by darkness and loss, shunned by most practitioners of the arcane arts. Such powers originate from the realm of the Shadow Weave, the distorted mockery of Mystra's Weave created by Shar, the Nightsinger. So obscure is this power that most are unaware of its existence, and those that know of it refuse to acknowledge it due to its dark origins. However, the seductive whispers of this power has called to you, an apprentice mage who had barely mastered your first cantrip, since a young age, deep beneath the great library.

When the voices became too much to resist, you snuck into the depths of Candlekeep in the dead of night, where unwanted and dangerous secrets are left to rot. Inside of a once-sealed chamber stood a strange fountain, an open wound in the Prime Material Plane through which the energies of the Shadow Weave bled. As soon as you touched the eerie yet beautiful strands of magic that flowed from the wound, you felt an awakening as your connection to the Weave was severed and the power of Shar's dark Weave coursed through you in its place, bestowing upon you a magic that few are gifted with. As you matured, the growing magic within you developed a symbiotic connection until it became one with your very being, and the power of the Shadow Weave became subservient to your will. Gorion and your tutors grew wary of the strange magic that you wielded, though they never learned of the source. Though you knew the dangers of toying with Shar's domain were great, the temptation of such a little-known power in your hands were a thousand times worth the cost."

- biography of a shadow adept Bhaalspawn

Component 1: SHADOW ADEPT

This is a mage kit with a completely unique spell selection with 100+ new spells to choose from. A lot of them are copies of existing spells but there are quite a few relatively unique ones in there.

A list of spells with screenshots of their descriptions can be viewed here.
SHADOW ADEPT: Shadow adepts hurl themselves into the abyss of the Shadow Weave, immediately acquiring all the gifts available to casual students and discovering secrets unavailable to all but the most dedicated. Advantages: - Hit Die: d6 - May use Shadow Magic. SHADOW MAGIC: Spells of the Shadow Weave are usually more powerful than regular magic, but drains the caster's life force. When a spell is cast, the shadow adept must make a save vs. death at +5 minus spell level (e.g. +4 for level 1, -4 for level 9) or temporarily lose Constitution equal to the level of the spell cast for 3 rounds. If the shadow adept's Constitution reaches zero, <PRO_HESHE> is killed instantly. The Shadow Weave is a mysterious and alien entity, far darker and harder to control than that of Mystra's equivalent. As such, a great amount of mental acuity is required in order to master shadow magic. High intelligence, wisdom and charisma benefits those who choose to stray into Shar's domain. - Gains the Darkvision innate ability. DARKVISION: The shadow adept is gifted with the ability to see in the dark even better than in light. <PRO_HESHE> permanently gains infravision and immunity to blindness. - Gains one bonus spell cast per level. - +2 bonus to saving throws against spells of the Enchantment, Illusion and Necromancy schools. - 4th level: May use the Shield of Shadows ability once per day. SHIELD OF SHADOWS: The shadow adept surrounds <HIMHER>self with a barrier of purpleblack force. This shield of shadows functions like a shield spell, setting <HISHER> armor class to 4 (2 against ranged weapons) and absorbing magic missiles cast at him for 1 hour per 2 levels to a maximum of 9 hours. From 8th level onwards, the shield of shadows also grants +4 to saving throws vs. death and +1 to all other saving throws. - 5th level: May use Shadowstep once per day. Gains one use every 5 levels thereafter. SHADOWSTEP: Step into the Shadow Plane and move for 7 seconds while others are frozen in time. The shadow adept cannot attack or use spells while in the Shadow Plane. - 14th level: May use the Shadow Double ability once per day. SHADOW DOUBLE: The shadow adept creates a copy of himself out of shadowstuff. The copy is at 60% of the caster's level and has all the spells and abilities that the caster would have at that level. Disadvantages: - -2 penalty to saving throws against spells of the Invocation and Alteration schools. - May not learn or use spells from the Weave. - Alignment restricted to non-good. Prime Requisites For Dual-Classing: Intelligence, Charisma

INTELLIGENCE WISDOM CHARISMA 1-2: -5 casting speed penalty 1: -50% spell duration, 50% spell failure 16: +1 level 1 spell 3-4: -4 casting speed penalty 2: -45% spell duration, 45% spell failure 17: +1 level 1 spell, +1 level 2 spell 5-6: -3 casting speed penalty 3: -40% spell duration, 40% spell failure 18: +1 level 2 spell, +1 level 3 spell 7-8: -2 casting speed penalty 4: -35% spell duration, 35% spell failure 19: +1 level 3 spell, +1 level 4 spell 9-10: -1 casting speed penalty 5: -30% spell duration, 30% spell failure 20: +1 level 4 spell 11-17: Nothing 6: -25% spell duration, 25% spell failure 21: +1 level 5 spell 18: +1 caster level bonus 7: -20% spell duration, 20% spell failure 22: +1 level 6 spell 19: +1 caster level bonus 8: -15% spell duration, 15% spell failure 23: +1 level 7 spell 20: +1 casting speed bonus 9: -10% spell duration, 10% spell failure 24: +1 level 8 spell 21: +1 caster level bonus 10: -5% spell duration, 5% spell failure 25: +1 level 9 spell 22: +1 casting speed bonus 11-15: Nothing 23: +1 caster level bonus 16: +5% spell duration 24: +1 casting speed bonus 17: +10% spell duration 25: +1 casting speed bonus 18: +15% spell duration 19: +20% spell duration 20: +25% spell duration 21: +30% spell duration 22: +35% spell duration 23: +40% spell duration 24: +45% spell duration 25: +50% spell duration
This mod is still unstable and has a few known issues:
  • One level 9 spell has a side effect that requires party AI to active to take effect, as it depends on the dplayer3.bcs script. Once you've met the prerequisites (you'll understand once you see the spell) simply turn on scripts for the effect to kick in and then turn it off if you wish.
  • Shadow Adept multi-classes will not gain Shadow Adept high level abilities.
  • A couple spells are a bit glitchy here and there. Bug reports are welcomed.

Component 2: SHADOW MONK

SHADOW MONK: Little is known about the secretive order of shadow monks, other than the fact that they draw upon the power of the Shadow Plane to wield dark ki. They are masterful assassins, manipulating powerful illusions to their advantage and skilled at striking from the shadows, but their ritualistic training has taken a toll on their physical stamina. Advantages: - +1 bonus to Dexterity. - Gains the Darkvision innate ability. DARKVISION: The shadow monk is gifted with the ability to see in the dark even better than in light. <PRO_HESHE> permanently gains infravision and immunity to blindness. - Gains the Life-Drain innate ability. LIFE-DRAIN: Shadow monks channel the power of the Shadow Plane into their fists, gaining bonus effects based off of their level. 1st - 9th level: Drains 1 hit point on hit. 10th - 19th level: Drains 2 hit points and lowers target's strength by 1 for 2 rounds (save vs. death to avoid strength drain) 20th level onwards: Drains 3 hit points, lowers target's strength by 1 and 20% chance to drain one level permanently on hit - Has a backstab multiplier of x2. Increases to x3 at 11th level and x4 at 21st level. - 3rd level: May use the Shadow Pool ability. SHADOW POOL: Shadow monks wield the power of the Shadow Plane and can manipulate it in order to cast a limited amount of Shadow Magic. The shadow monk must first spend one round drawing energy from the Shadow Weave then cast the spell. The shadow monk's concentration may be disrupted during the channeling or the casting time. Level 1 (3rd, 6th, 9th, 12th levels): Shadow Missile, Blinding Darkness, Shadow Veil, Decoy Level 2 (7th, 10th, 13th, 16th levels): Dark Mirage, Black Mist, Ghostly Visage, Shadow Walk Level 3 (11th, 17th, 23rd levels): Shadowblast, Lifedrinker Touch, Shadow Comets, Impose Level 4 (15th, 21st, 27th levels): Fireshield (Shadow), Shadeskin, Summon Shadow, Shar's Blessing - 5th level: May cast Shadowstep once per day. Gains an additional use every 5 levels thereafter. SHADOWSTEP: Step into the Shadow Plane and move for 7 seconds while others are frozen in time. The shadow monk cannot attack or use spells while in the Shadow Plane. - 12th level: May cast Shadow Door once per day. Gains additional uses at 16th and 20th level. - 15th level: May use the Deathstrike ability once per day. DEATHSTRIKE: The shadow monk teleports to a chosen target and turns invisible for one round. <PRO_HISHER> next attack within one round is a guaranteed critical hit and drains six levels from the target. Disadvantages: - Hit Die: d6 - -2 penalty to Strength. - -4 penalty to Constitution. - Alignment restricted to non-lawful and non-good. - Uses the shadowdancer's high level abilities table instead of the fighter's, with the exclusion of Use Any Item. - May not use the Lay On Hands ability. - May not use the Stunning Blow ability. - May not use the Quivering Palm ability.

Component 3: ITEM PACK

This optional component adds a few relatively powerful items that are exclusive to the shadow adept. Some can be found in BG1+SoD and all can be found in BG2. Some items require the shadow adept to have a secondary class in addition to the kit itself. More items are being added as the mod is updated.

Spoilers on items and their locations can be found here.

[MOD] Undivided: Keeping NPCs Around

$
0
0
Undivided is a mod that changes Morte and Nordom to be followers rather than a party members. This allows players to have all seven companions present as they progress through the game.

The newest version of this mod is available on GitHub.

Features

This mod is being actively developed, and will be expanded as my free time permits. This mod currently allows players to change Morte and/or Nordom into followers. Followers will still interject and be identified as a member of the party for script/dialog purposes and will progress in levels along with The Nameless One.

To make Morte work as a follower, the following functionality changes have been made:
- Morte's teeth will automatically improve at 4th, 8th, and 12th level (d4+1, d6+2, d8+3).
- If Morte would be killed in combat, he instead "plays dead" for the remainder of combat, lying on the ground and not being controllable until combat has been concluded.
- Morte does not have access to an inventory and will not be able to open containers or pick items up from the ground.

To make Nordom work as a follower, the following functionality changes have been made:
- If Nordom would be killed in combat, he activates a "tactical retreat", teleporting him to the foyer of the Modron Maze. [this is will likely be changed in subsequent updates]

Upcoming Changes

I am currently working on the following features:
- Allowing Morte/Nordom to banter with party members.
- Allowing Morte/Nordom to equip items (Teeth, Lens, Bolts) found throughout your travels.
- Compatibility with the Fortress of Regrets and Player Maze.

Features listed above will be pushed to the live version when I am satisfied with stability and behavior. If you have ideas for future updates to this mod, please let me know in the comments.

Technical Limitations

I am aware of the following issues and would welcome suggestions for how to handle them:

- Followers do not respond to the "run vs. walk" system, meaning that Morte/Nordom will always walk everywhere, making them significantly slower than any party members who are running.

- When selecting a weapon for Morte/Nordom, the image of their weapons does not show up in the weapon selection quickbar, but is visible if you right click the apparently empty slot.

- I can't seem to get Morte/Nordom to consistently take items from the party and equip them. Any suggestions on how to do this efficiently would be welcome.

Feedback

If you encounter any bugs while using this mod, please let me know.

As with all of my mods, if you have any ideas, comments, or criticism, please do not hesitate to post in this thread.
