Upgradable Dak'kon's Blade

Hey guys, this is my first attempt at modding. All it does is add a simple quest to the game and allows you to upgrade Dak'kon's Zerth Blade. I was disappointed by the lack of interesting unique katanas in this game. Basically theres Hindo's Doom and Celestial Fury, and thats it. And Hindo's Doom is pretty lackluster relatively for an endgame weapon.

I've tried to keep the mod lore friendly and made the upgrade balanced in comparison to the other weapons in the game. I'm no expert in the lore though so if there is inconsistency, please correct me.

If theres enough interest, I plan on adding additional upgrade options and different versions of the blade much like how Dak'kon's weapon changes based on his morale in PS:T.

The mod is extremely simple so I doubt it will conflict with anything. Let me know what you guys think! Please leave any feedback/bugs you may find.

BG + BG II dual mod request

I've always wished that you could ask Tomoko at the end of BG to help you reform Saravok. Any chance of a mod that allows Tomoko to join your party and confront Saravok with you, and then rejoin you in BGII, or perhaps, allow you to summon Tomoko to Hell in ToB? Saravok can join you, it is a shame that his only woman can't see that you did indeed keep your promise to spare his life. Also, she's bad ass! Love that voice. She ought to be a grandmaster katana/wakizashi dual wielding samurai fighter by ToB. If someone has made this mod or something close to it, I've never come across it and would love for someone to point me in the right direction. It should be possible given that I've played Solaufein and Bodhi mods, right?

I was just wondering if anyone has written any better scripts for BG:EE/BG:EE2 than the default scripts. I looked around the Internet and couldn’t find any. Thanks.

BG Version: This mod only works with BGEE (at least for now)
Languages: English only

Mod Description:
This mod allows to rename NPCs through an (hopefully) easy to use textual menu. It will work for both new and ongoing games.

Using the textual menu, one can rename several NPCs, or several time the same NPC (e.g. to fix a typo), by just selecting their corresponding number(s), until one is fully satisfied with the changes and ready to proceed with the installation.

However, once the mod has been installed, further name changes are only possible by uninstalling or re-installing. In both cases all NPCs will revert to their previous names (e.g. if the mod has been installed, one can't just rerun the installer and rename only one NPC while retaining custom names for the others).

Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition - Autoroller

FEATURES

This utility program will automaticly roll for attributes.
It stores the highest attribute score rolled.
If a new roll is equal to previously highest it compare the STR% and picks the highest.
Priority settings for STR%.

Current version (v4) of the program is working with v1.2 of BGEE and BG2EE.
Updates to BGEE can break the program, it all depends on what kind of update it is.

HOW TO USE

1. UPDATE the OFFSET value in the ini file, OFFSET = 0x________
2. Run Baldur's Gate: Enhanced Edition in windowed mode (IMPORTANT)
3. Run BGEE Autoroller (you might have to run it as administrator)
4. If creating a class with STR%, set priority settings as you want it (set all to 0 if you don't want to these features).
5. Press START when you have reached the attribute screen, you will be promted to press the RECALL, STORE and REROLL buttons.
6. Once you hit the REROLL button it will start rolling.

Hold down 'X' when you want to stop rolling.
'UP' will increase the rolling speed.
'DOWN' will decrease the rolling speed.

IMPORTANT
This will not work when creating multiple characters in Multiplayer & The Black Pit.
I recommend using the Pre-Generate Character (this tool works there) then use import for MP & TBP.
I currently have no solution on how to use this for MP & TBP, except generate your character in single player, export them and import to MP, TBP or TBP2

ABOUT THE STR% SETTINGS
Exceptional STR% worth:
This will add priority to STR% values. Giving the possibility to store a lower roll if it's STR% is good enough.
Example:
If your currently stored total is 90 with a STR% 20 then you roll a 89 with STR% 77 the new 89 roll will be stored if 76-90 is worth 1 or more attribute points.

Minimum STR% to store:
This will simply ignore ALL rolls with a STR% below the one set.
If you have it at 51 and would happen to roll 100 with a STR% score of 12 that roll will be ignored.


IF IT DOESN'T WORK

Most likely it's due to an BGEE update and I have tried to make it as easy as possible get it working again if thats the case.
To get it working again you need to update the OFFSET value in "BGEEautoroller.ini"
To do that:
1. First you need a new OFFSET value, I'll update this post with new ones.
2. Open the ini file in a text editor (like Notepad).
3. Change the OFFSET value to the new one.

If it's not due to an update then please post here.

IF ANYONE WOULD LIKE TO HELP GETTING NEW OFFSET VALUES
(Requires you to know how to search for memory addresses)

1. Find the memory address for the STR attribute (value type: byte)
2. Make a pointer scan for that address (max level 1 is enough)
3. You should find a pointer where Offset0 = 610
4. Look at the base address "baldur.exe"+________
5. New OFFSET = 0x________

I apologize if I ask something that's already been answered; if I am, please point me in the right direction.
So I just got into Baldur's Gate and, having played Skyrim, realized that mods added a lot to the game. So I found tutorials on how to write mods. Unfortunately, those are for the traditional Baldur's Gate series which, while I have and could use, probably aren't usable on EE. I'm not sure how drastic the difference is, but more than likely they won't work.
Anyways, what do I do to make it EE compatible?

Use Any NPC Item - Primary component.

I did not bother to make a WeiDU install script, but can do so if people would prefer. Just copy the files to the override folder. As standard, I have not removed the "Usable by [NPC Name]", but an optional blank item_use.2da is also attached if seeing the alignment and class restrictions is preferable.

Blank item_use.2da - optional, displays Usable/Unusable list instead of just the character name the item is intended for.

Please note that other restrictions such as class and alignment still apply to characters without the Use Any Item ability, but can still be used if they meet the requirements. I have left some items, such as Boo, as they currently are.

Likewise for Hexxat's amulet. Hexxat, from a lore point of view, should not be able to use certain items (for what should be an obvious reason). I will, however, make an optional component if it is desirable.

Most people present have been (occasionally..) playing Baldur's Gate for a very long time now. I think it likely most people have come across a mod or two they think so highly of that it has turned into an integral and essential part of their BG experience. Let's talk about those mods! Which ones are invaluable to you?Why?

Please provide name of the mod, status of compatibility with EE and some relevant link or another if you know of any.Describe the mod briefly! Excessive mod listings are welll and good and can be incredibly handy. It's just that bare name of a mod isn't a very meaningful thing for somebody who has never tried it or played BG all that much.

Ideally, this thread might increase visibility and generate well earned buzz around few excellent if a bit overlooked mods.

BG1 NPC Project

Starting such listing with the BG1 NPC Project makes a highly obvious choice for me. Not sure if I've ever seen a mod for *any* game enhancing and improving atmosphere of the vanilla experience as much as the NPC project does.

The BG1 NPC Project is all about ensuring the days of silent,empty joinable NPCs are over. The mod adds several hundreds of banters,few quests and romances. Significant portions of the content is of very high quality. Dialogue written usually suits mood of the game and the NPCs perfectly. The mod is all about immersion, atmosphere and making the NPCs and Player Character richer in flavor. Don't expect any additional mobs to kill etc. Great deal of the new dialogue is all about interjections and reactions to surroundings. Mod kicks in and shows it's teeth the moment PC and Imoen arrive to Gorion's body. It doesn't just make the NPCs richer but also adds great deal to the environment, world as a whole. I much appreciate how, despite adding a drastic amount of new content, NPC project still manages to stay loyal to the original atmosphere.

Due to the nature of this mod, there is nothing to consider in terms of game balance. It won't be handing you game breaking amounts of XP(or any XP at all, iirc)) or some imbalanced extra gear or such.

As made apparent enough by my rampart fanboyism, I've come to think extremely highly of the NPC Project. To a degree where any intention to start a single BG:EE playthrough without it flew out of window as soon as I heard our valiant @LiamEsler is busy(!!!;p) crafting a BG:EE friendly version of it.

Also if you are experiencing crashes in the game, check your portraits folder for "bgee.sql". If you find this file there delete it and the crashes should be solved.

So I parted ways with Jaheira in Irenicus' dungeon after freeing her but she is nowhere to be found in game. Wasn't sure what her code was for BG2EE

There is no 00766 folder in beamdog/BGEE/data?? plz help

I'm blocked at the Bodhi's quest because of a bug.

I'm using the steam version of BGII EE

I want to insert the code CLUAConsole:SetGlobal("BodhiJob","GLOBAL",3) to go on but i cannot enable the console (I read that's the only way to solve the bug >( )

The console start if i press cntrl+space (as well if i press cntrl+M and altgr+space), i can write, but if i press "enter" nothing happens (it's like the enter button doesn't work), what i write in the console stay there

I attach here my baldur.ini file, if someone can give me some advice

PS Sorry if i did some mistake in english :D

Sword Coast Stratagems now available for BG:EE

The latest version (v22) of Sword Coast Stratagems is compatible with BG:EE.

This is a BETA release, and I mean the beta label fairly seriously. This version merges the BG and BG2 versions of SCS, adds BG:EE compatibility, and rewrites most of the code base. The chance that I broke something in doing this is fairly high. I hope to release a non-beta-labelled version in a couple of weeks, depending how much feedback I get for this version.

EDIT: Updated to version 23, though I think I'll leave the beta flag in place.

EDIT: Updated to version 24 (not before time). This version fixes the problems with Davaeorn, Mulahey and Bassilus that have been reported, as well as bringing the "NPCs wait at inns" and "allow NPC pairs to separate" components to BG:EE and playing more nicely with the BG:EE text strings. Still technically a beta, though I'll probably strip that label shortly.

SCS: Crash to desktop Asylum Perimeter

Hello,
my first SCS run and I'm facing a crash to desktop problem at the Asylum Perimeter. As soon as the first staircase / building comes into view (probably where the first mob spawns) it crashes to desktop. I've tried walking past invisibly, blasting the area with spells first etc., no use.

I've tried teleporting to AR1515 but I appear at the wrong side and the door to the entrance hall is closed and can't be opened from this side. :( Ah, that gave me an idea, I can teleport to AR1500 and appear right at the door, skipping the crashi site. Still annoying. Any ideas what causes this?

Unfortunately neither Firefox nor Safari will let me upload a file so I can't attach a savegame.

So after finding out that BP has a somewhat working version of Ascension currently, I decided to try and install it but got hit with an installation error. Having experienced this before, I realize it's something to do with the WeiDu and probably the installation order of mods. Currently I have BG2 Tweaks, DungeonBeGone, and Rogue Rebalancing installed, and in proper order.

My question is what the proper install order is, or how do I fix the WeiDu in order to get BP installed without getting errors on Setup?

Hello all,

So it's time for join the cool kids and try out some mods, problem is I'm not that computer literate, I don't understand all the terminology and I've never used mods before. I'm asking for an incredibly patient individual to help me out with getting to grips regarding understanding how to add mods to the game.

I have visited numerous other websites which all had help files for things relating to mods but my understanding is more basic than the target audience for those help files and I was unable to understand them.

I recently downloaded B.G-2-E.E as I had played the original games when they were released and have finished the games and their expansions a few times hence I'd like to add some new content. The main things I've noticed so far are repeat mentions of something called Tutu and D(something) which is apparently (as far as I can tell) some form of software that I think is used to work as a middle-man between B.G-2-E.E & the mods themselves but I could be completely mistaken.

If anyone knows of a step by step guide that's written in English (non P.C speak) which they'd be willing to link in a response or something along those lines then that would be of great assistance to me as I have been unable to locate any simple instructions.

I downloaded bg2_tweaks-v14.exe but when I attempted to install it the software opened what looked like a DOS box and informed me that the instillation had failed, it said:

[C:\Program Files \Baldur's Gate II Enhanced Edition\Test Folder\setup-bg2_tweaks.exe] WeiDU version 23200

Please run this program in your Infinity Engine game directory.

FATAL ERROR: Failure<"Not a game directory">

Press ENTER to exit.

(I don't know if I even have an 'Infinity Engine game directory') Now even though it claims it failed to install, when I look inside that test folder I created I see there's still three things in there despite it's failed instillation and they are a folder called:

bg2_tweaks

Along with a file called:

SETUP-BG2_TWEAKS.DEBUG

...and an application called:

setup-bg2_tweaks.exe

I realize it was never going to work when I set the destination for installation as a newly created test folder but the first time I tried to run that downloaded software it failed but left new files and folders in the game folder that the installation had defaulted to and seeing as I was unable to distinguish that stuff in the folder that was there because of the actual game download vs. the things that had been placed in there due to the mod I had concerns that I had corrupted my installation so I deleted everything that had anything to do with B.G-2-E.E entirely and downloaded from the installer once again.

I have also downloaded that mod package again but have not attempted to install it as I don't really feel like repeatedly downloading 2.6 gigabytes of data.

Now I don't know if anything I've put here in this post will be of any use what so ever in helping identify what the issue is and I openly admit I have zero idea in regards to how to go about getting some fun mods up and running but it's something I'd really like to make happen so if you can be of any assistance (keeping in mind I know bugger all about this stuff) with simple advice then please be my guest, I'm all ears and would truly appreciate your help.

To get EE Keeper working with a Mac App Store install, please see the directions in the spoiler tags:

Go into EE Keeper.
Select "Settings -> Installation Directory" from the application menu bar (not the OS X menu bar).
Click on "Browse BG:EE" or "Browse BG2:EE", depending on which game you want to set up (if you have both games, do both).
This should bring up a "Browse for Folder" window. Click the "+" symbols to expand the selection tree to "Desktop -> My Computer -> Z: -> Applications".
Then, find "Baldur's Gate - Enhanced Edition.app" (or BaldursGateII-EnhancedEdition.app") and click the "+" symbol to see the folders inside the app package.
Find the directory "Contents -> Resources" inside the app package. Select the Resources folder and click "OK".

For saved games, EE Keeper is looking in the following location: "Documents\Baldur's Gate II - Enhanced Edition\save"

The Beamdog installer creates a link to the directory "\Users\USERNAME\Library\Containers\com.beamdog.baldursgateIIenhancededition\Data\Documents\Baldur's Gate II - Enhanced Edition\" in your Documents directory, letting EE Keeper find the save directory. Unfortunately, it looks like the Mac App Store version doesn't do this.

You can tell EE Keeper to use a custom save directory. There's a selectable option when you bring up the screen to open a save game. See this image:

Select the Use Custom Save directory option and then click the Browse button. Navigate to:

Z:\Users\USERNAME\Library\Containers\com.beamdog.baldursgateIIenhancededition\Data\Documents\Baldur's Gate II - Enhanced Edition\save\

and then click OK. Don't try to pick a specific save. Just point EE Keeper to the "save" directory.

Crashing immidiately after chapter 2 movie/cutscene ends

Just starting a game with 6 custom chars (4 of which I imported from my BGEE game file). Immediately after the Ch. 2 movie/cutscene w/ Irenicus & Imoen at Cowled Wiz base, it comes back to Gaelan Bayle interior, and Crashes with a dump file (posted to the Support page).

I have installed in my game only the mods confirmed to be fully compatible from here: http://forum.baldursgate.com/discussion/23726/bgii-ee-compatible-mod-list/p1

I do NOT have Ascension, Item Randomizer, or any of the NPC or romance mods, and most of the bigger mods I only have selected components installed.

Obviously, SCS, aTweaks, and BG Tweaks combined take FOREVER to install/uninstall, so I want to eliminate all other options first before ripping my install apart.
