A new voice for the BG2 Xan mod

Hi friends,

Some of you might remember the quite celebrated mod that brought Xan into BGII: http://www.pocketplane.net/mambo/index.php?option=content&task=blogcategory&id=164&Itemid=113

I can't see any way to reach the original author, and I had a play around with it myself recently but found the voice set they used a bit jarring, possibly recorded on some sort of budget mic like many of the mod voices of yore. I'm a voice actor part time and I was wondering whether folks might be interested in an overhaul of the sound used in the mod? I'm nearly done transcribing the BGII Xan mod's lines to re-record them and finding them well written so far, about 200 lines in.

Here's my go at a Xan impression (just reeling off some of his lines from BGI):

Let me know what you think!

Cheers!

Stuck with effect AC bonus (0)

Hi everyone!
I'm working on a new mod (my very first one actually) and have run into an issue I can't fix. Any advice would be much appreciated!

Here is what I've done:

I've created a copy of the original spcl643.spl (Werewolf form) and named it lvl6463.spl. I've added a global effect (Type: AC bonus (0)) so whenever my shapeshifter druid changes into a Werewolf, he gets the AC bonus I specified in the effect. This works just fine but the issue is, when he changes back to the natural human form, the global effect does not wear off somehow and his AC is set to 0 instead of the expected 9.

His base AC in human form is 9 (gets -1 dexterity bonus). When he changes to Werewolf form, his base AC is set to 1 by the effect I created and he also gets -2 dexterity bonus in this form which brings his AC to -1. However, when I change back to the natural human form, his AC becomes 0. This clearly shows that the global effect is still active and his AC is still set to 1 (still getting -1 dexterity bonus).

The timing mode on the effect is set to 'Instant/while equipped - 2' so when the modified werewolf form (lvl6436.spl) isn't active anymore, I would expect the AC effect to wear off. What am I doing wrong here?

I've tried to remove the above mentioned effect upon returning to human form by adding Remove effects by opcode (337) to the spell that activates human form (SPIN124.spl) but that didn't work.

Any suggestions?

Can you guys name some mods that you can just drop into the override folder? And doesn't require weidu or a pc. I'm playing this game on my android tablet just so you guys know.

[MOD] J-UI - Customized SOD version of Lefreut's UI

$

I decided to take what was so great about Lefreut's UI and teak it to my liking. After I was done, I decided to place it here for anyone else to use. This mod rearranges the main screen. Any other screens are left as they were created.

Some changes:
  • Stone boxes surround all icons and aspects of the main UI. The NPC boxes around the portraits will only show as the NPC are added to the game.
  • The World Message box and the World Dialog Boxes are the same sizes and centered in the same location. As you gain NPCs into your party, both boxes will shift right but still be centered.
  • The World Dialog Box will only show a portrait if the talking NPC has one. The taking portrait is located to the right of the World Dialog Box.
  • The icons for journal, world map, the clock, etc have been made smaller so as to be symmetrical with the action bar.

Installation Notes

The mod only works to my resolution (1920x1070) or higher. I tried using a lower resolution and everything was beyond the screen. You will also need to install Lefreut's Enhanced UI (SOD skin) first with all components. After that, you can copy my components to your override folder.

I would like as much feedback as I can. I hope you enjoy the new layout as much as I do. Some things I'd like to work on in the future include further journal tweaks.

Sirene, Paladin of Ilmater

Portrait by sporeboy - http://sporeboy.deviantart.com/art/Kitty-10791404

Portrait by Isandir

Race: Tiefling
Class: Martyr - Paladin kit (optional: pureclass, cavalier, inquisitor, undead hunter, Divine Champion - requires House Rules)
Alignment: Lawful Good
STR: 15
DEX: 17
CON: 15
INT: 10
WIS: 13
CHA: 17
Proficiencies (paladin):
Two-handed Sword ++
Two-handed Style ++

Mod Content

- 1 new NPC with banters, interjections and talks to PC
- 1 new item
- 1 NPC specific kit with 3 new spells
- 14 friendship talks
- Soundset taken from Icewind Dale
- Full content for Siege of Dragonspear expansion

She can be found and recruited outside of the Song of the Morning Temple by a PC of non-evil alignment at level 2 with a minimum of 2500 experience, though she will gain experience to match the PC at the moment of recruitment.

She banters with every Bioware and EE NPC at least once, talking more to good and neutral NPCs, and fourteen friendship talks planned with the option of teasing a romance. Currently there are no quests and no plans to add any.

In Siege of Dragonspear, she can be found in the Iron Throne building. She has a semi-romantic path with a PC with a minimum of 12 Charisma and any gender, alignment or race (though she will still not join evil protagonists).

Be warned that as a paladin, certain evil actions in the expansion will cause her to leave the party permanently.

Biography

When asked about her past, SIRENE averts her gaze and flatly states that there is little to say. She was orphaned and left to die as a babe, likely abandoned due to her apparent fiendish heritage. Only by luck did she survive certain death by being discovered by a travelling priest of Ilmater, who brought her to others of his faith and raised her as a Holy Warrior of Suffering, the order of paladins dedicated to the Crying God. She resents her own contradictory nature, though she is unsure of which side.

Personality

Sirene exhibits many of the typical qualities expected of a paladin; she is kind, dutiful and faithful. However, beneath her calm exterior lies a hidden temper owing to the fell blood which flows in her veins. Though she is a devoted champion of Ilmater, a past of being ostracized and persecuted by those she wishes to call her fellow men has left her unsure of her abilities and worthiness. She can be easily provoked by challenging, insulting or mocking her faith, which can be seen in her interactions with characters such as Tiax, Eldoth or even Xan, though she is also quick to acknowledge and apologize for her mistakes. She is closer to the 'good' side of her alignment rather than the 'lawful', and prefers protecting the weak to destroying evil. Because of this, she may be slightly more tolerant of evil companions, even if she can also be quite judgmental towards them. However, she will not tolerate Dorn (though they can come to an uneasy truce during Siege of Dragonspear)

Friendship & Future Romance

Sirene can be befriended by a PC of any alignment, race or statistics though she will not join evil protagonists. As she has few living friends in her life, she will be eager to befriend a PC that is willing to accept her. A PC of either gender with a Charisma of 12 or greater may flirt with her, though there is no separate romantic branch in BG:EE. In Siege of Dragonspear, there is a 'romance' of sorts, though it is significantly less romantic than the original romances.

Sirene, Paladin of Ilmater

Portrait by Isandir

Mod Introduction

This mod adds a new joinable NPC to the game: Sirene, a tiefling paladin of Ilmater. She has a custom kit: Martyr.

She can be found within the High Hall of the Radiant Heart, in the corridor past the entrance. She will only join a non-evil PC.

Her level is dependent on the PC's upon joining.

STR: 16
DEX: 17
CON: 16
INT: 10
WIS: 14
CHA: 17
Total: 90

As a tiefling, she also has 10% fire and cold resistance.

She has both a friendship path and a romance, which can be initiated by a PC with 12 or above charisma and of either gender. PCs who knew her from BG1 can bring up their past for a few extra talks.

If your reputation drops below 9, she will stop her friendship and romance talks and warn you. If it drops below 5, she will leave permanently.

She is compatible with all NPCs except Dorn and Hexxat, who she will come to conflict with quickly and force you to choose between them.

Martyr Kit

MARTYR: Martyrs are worshippers of Ilmater, the good god of suffering, endurance and martyrdom. Paladins of Ilmater's order are compassionate and train themselves to become protectors of their allies and to alleviate the suffering of others.

ADVANTAGES:

- Hit Die: d12
- May use the Sacrifice ability once per day. Gains one use at level 1 and an additional use every 7 levels thereafter.

SACRIFICE: The martyr heals the target for 1d6+1 per level hit points and deals 1d6+1 per level nonlethal damage to self.

- May use the Martyrdom ability once per day starting at level 5. Gains an additional use every 7 levels thereafter.

MARTYRDOM: The target gains a +4 bonus to armor class and 50% resistance to physical damage for 5 rounds while the martyr loses the same amount.

- 12th level: Gains 10% resistance to physical damage. An additional 5% is gained at levels 16 and 20.
- 15th level: May use the Ilmater's Grace ability once per day.

ILMATER'S GRACE: The martyr regenerates for 3 hit points per second for 1 turn.

DISADVANTAGES:

- -1 penalty to THAC0 every 5 levels (starting at level 1).
- May not cast Protection from Evil.
- May not Turn Undead.
- May not use ranged weapons.

Friendship & Romance

Sirene can be befriended by a PC of any alignment, race or statistics though she will not join evil protagonists. A PC with 12 or more Charisma of either gender and any race or class can start a romance with her. Bear in mind that Sirene will not 'come on' to you immediately as vanilla romances do, and you actually have to show interest at some point during her friendship talks for the romance to take over. If she knew the PC from Baldur's Gate 1, the romance can start from their very first talk, while those who just met her will have to talk to her a few times. Show her you're interested, whether by bringing up a former relationship, flirting with her during her talks, or... buying her something nice?

Crossmod

Sirene comes with crossmod content, which includes banters with the following mod NPCs: Fade, Foundling, Yvette (Lava Del'Vortel) and Pai'Na (myself)

Sirene also reacts to the following quest mods: Innershade, Tales of the Deep Gardens, I Shall Never Forget (Lava Del'Vortel)

Sirene also reacts to NPCS from the Romantic Encounters (multiple authors) mod (for technical reasons, this component may be installed separately): The reactions are harmless and will not break the romance (except for Anne)

FAQ - non/minor spoilers

Q: I had Sirene in my party in BG1 and acknowledged it to her. What changes?
A: You get one more dialogue in which you can set your previous relationship, and she gets a few more banters with NPCs from BG1, as well as one with Keldorn.

Q: Does Sirene have any personal quests?
A: Technically no quests, but there are encounters.

Q: Where are the encounters?
A: The first is a waylay that occurs when leaving Athkatla via the City Gates. The second is near-impossible to miss so long as you go to any Athkatlan district in Chapter 6 (except the Graveyard). There is also one in ToB - which she will begin via dialogue upon reaching the North Forest.

Q: Romance conflicts?
A: Not directly. However, Sirene will eventually ask you if you're interested in anyone. Choosing anyone except Sirene herself will terminate the romance.

Q: Can the Brimstone +1 be upgraded?
A: Yes, at Cromwell's. Requires a demon heart and 5,000 gold.

Q: Are there any new items?
A: There are over a dozen usable items included with this mod. Two can be upgraded and three are Sirene-exclusive.

Q: New areas?
A: Three in SoA, one in ToB. Each one has a specific encounter you can deal with, but only the first is mandatory.

Q: New spells?
A: Several. Some are mutually exclusive, owing to a certain choice Sirene must make.

Q: Does Sirene have conflicts with any other party members?
A: Sirene will not, under any circumstances, be in a party with Dorn or Hexxat.

Q: Which party members are good ideas to take with Sirene?
A: Sirene is written to fit in well with good-aligned parties, but she has plenty of dialogue with most party members. She has at least four banters with Keldorn, Anomen, Mazzy, Imoen, Jaheira, Valygar, Viconia and Yoshimo, so any of the above are good choices. She has the least to say with Jan and Korgan. Additionally, keeping Sirene and Valygar in the party for long enough may result in a tiny bonus...

FAQ - spoilers

Q: I'm romancing Sirene, and she's not talking to me. Help!
A: A few of Sirene's lovetalks require certain conditions to trigger:
LT4: Triggers when PC is wounded (less than 75% hit points)
LT10: Triggers when party is in a city
LT11: Triggers when party is in Umar Hills
LT14: Triggers when party rests at an inn

Q: Are there any lasting consequences for the Ilmatari encounter?
A: Depending on how you resolve the situation a certain number of points add to or subtract from a hidden 'faith' counter, which can potentially affect the conclusion of her final encounter. The amount of points gained or lost are as follows:
- Sirene executes Revered Brother Daeron: -1 faith point
- Party kills all Ilmatari (requires 17+ CHA, -2 reputation penalty): -4 faith points
- Convince Sirene to let them go (requires 15+ CHA): -2 faith points
- Convince Ilmatari to turn themselves in (requires 15+ WIS or CHA): +3 faith points

There is also a following dialogue, in which the following dialogue options will affect her faith:
"Perhaps Ilmater pitied him." = +1 faith point
"You can't doubt your god, Sirene." = +2 faith points
"Gods act in strange ways..." = +1 faith point
"Maybe you're right." = -1 faith point
"You don't need Ilmater..." = -2 faith points
"Think on it..." = no change

Q: What does the 'faith' counter affect?
A: Depending on whether Sirene's faith is positive or negative, she will either be more inclined to spare or kill her brother respectively in her final encounter. With persuasion, or if she is romanced, the Bhaalspawn may convince her to make the opposite decision, however, if her faith leans heavily (6+) in either direction, she will make her decision immediately without giving you a chance to persuade her. Bear in mind it is harder to convince Sirene to fall than to do the opposite.

Q: and his demons are handing me my ass! What gives?
A: This was intended to be a very difficult battle. It's entirely optional and you don't have to go for the encounter if you really can't beat it, but there are a lot of goodies if you succeed. Some tips and useful information that might help:
- The boss leads with a cheap shot before the fight begins by poisoning your whole party. The spell is essentially a max power Poison spell that also lowers Constitution by 4 if your party members fail the save. Poison immunity and saving throw bonuses will save you from losing the fight before it begins.
- A random demon (glabrezu, balor or death knight) will spawn from the rift every five rounds so long as the fight continues, so it's in your best interest to end the fight as quickly as possible before you are overwhelmed by sheer numbers. To abuse this advantage, the boss will cast Time Stop a lot not only to obliterate you with magic, but also to stall for more demons to spawn.
- Figure out what your highest priority should be. Defeating the boss will end the battle immediately, but allowing the demons to maul you for free in the meantime may not be the best idea. However, due to the demon-spawning rift, stalling will only get you killed unless you can wipe out the existing demons quickly.
- The boss will use a 'sequencer' when he reaches Near Death for the first time, which instantly casts Heal, Stoneskin and Mislead on himself, so avoid blowing everything on round one.
- Summons are very helpful in this fight, despite their tendency to get gibbed. Any means of distracting the demons while you wear down the boss will ultimately make your life easier.
- If the rift is giving you trouble, try fighting away from it. It won't stop the demons from spawning, but at least they won't chase after you.
- To avoid breaking continuity Sirene is scripted to auto-resurrect once the boss is defeated if she dies.
- If Sirene has proficiency points in bastard swords, or if any other Lawful Good party member does, there is a weapon in the area which may be effective in this battle.
- Protection from Evil is a lifesaver.

Q: I romanced Sirene and she committed suicide to prevent Bodhi from turning her. Bringing her to the Temple Ruins doesn't restore her. Help!
A: Read the item description for her body.
A2: Go to the Temple of Ilmater and let the rest take care of itself.

Q: I killed and Sirene turned Chaotic Good. Will she be able to regain her paladinhood?
A: Nope. She chose her path and she's going to have to stick with it. Bear in mind this is not meant to be a 'wrong' decision by any means and there are rewards exclusive to this path.

Q: Okay... does she at least get compensation for losing her paladin abilities?
A: Yes. After one in-game day, she'll inform you that since she's no longer bound by her oaths, she will regain use of her tiefling innate powers: Burning Hands, Blur and Blindness (with a chance for berserk). She'll gain more uses of these abilities as she levels up. There are also a couple of unique items on 's body that you can only claim upon his death, one of which is extremely powerful and Sirene-exclusive. Oh, by the way, if she stayed Lawful Good after the encounter, she'll get one new innate power instead.

Q: Can the Celestial Fire sword be upgraded?
A: Yes, in ToB.

Q: Can you be more specific?
A: The Celestial Fire can be upgraded for 15,000 gp and the Eye of the Celestial (found in Watcher's Keep).

Since the number of mods I have created has reached the point where I have a dozen threads that require maintaining and need to compete with other threads at the same time for visibility, I have created this list of all the mods I have created in order to have a condensed thread where I can post notices for new updates or mods that don't need their own threads.
  • My larger mods, namely NPC and kit mods will still maintain their threads in the case of news or updates, but my smaller mods will hopefully receive a little more attention here.
  • I will not post anything on unfinished or concept mods in this post. Information on those can be found either in their own threads or on my site.
  • I do not (directly) design or support mods for IWD:EE, PST:EE or any pre-EE Infinity Engine games, and have no plans for adapting my mods (this obviously applies to any kit, item or spell mods that I create) for any of the aforementioned engines. I do support EET, but only via assistance from others. Please don't ask for compatibility patches.
  • Most of my mods have been designed using v2.0+ versions of EE. Therefore, they will probably not work for those still on v1.3. Again, please don't ask.

Importing a character into a modded game?

Ok so if I create a character on an unmodded game, and later install a mod such as Rogues Rebalanced, will the mod simply update the character if I import it into my now modded game? Or would I have to recreate the character in order for the changes to take place?

Hello Everyone.

I would like to announce the version 2.0 of my DnD 3.5 mod which is now also compatible with Bg2.

In short this mod tries to transform Baldur's Gate ADnD rules into DnD 3.5 (with some elements of the Pathfinder) within the game engine limits.

[Mod] All Things Mazzy, v: 1.034. Temples now know when you steal for Mae'Var

All Things Mazzy: Friendship, romance, NPC conversations and more.
Written and edited by BCaesar and Ratatoskr589. Coded by BCaesar
First version posted on these forums: 1.027, posted on March 27, 2017.
Latest update: Version 1.034. Attached April 14th, 2017.
Download location: This thread! (The mod is attached to this post).

Hello all. Ratatoskr and I are working on an expansion mod for Mazzy which includes various conversations with NPC's, and will also include a romance. There will be some friendship talks as well, but not a huge number since we're assuming if you want a chatty Mazzy you already have the Mazzy Friendship Mod.

We made the decision to try to release the mod in parts rather than try to write and edit everything and then code it because this way if something happens and we stop making the mod we'll actually have part of it finished (instead of it ending up in the mod graveyard with so many others). And if we ever disappear for more than a year this is up for grabs. Take it and run with it. Also if you want to use any part of this mod in another mod the answer is probably yes, just ask us.

Completed so far:
-Hostile Mazzy:
Mazzy now correctly attacks you if your reputation gets too low (it was coded but seemed to be bugged).
- Other characters now choose sides (or stay out of it) if Mazzy and Player 1 fight. Every character should talk, so if one doesn't (and it's in BG2:EE) then it's a bug.

-Interjections, comments and reactions:
- Mazzy comments and/or reacts during the conversation with Lady Delcia Cain in Nalia's keep.
- Mazzy comments during Keldorn's Quest with his wife.
- Mazzy comments during Anomen's quest if he kills the woman, but only if no one else comments.
- Mazzy comments when the thug is bullying the merchant by the city gates.
- Mazzy comments if Mae'Var asks you to steal the necklace from Talos.

- Korgan and Mazzy conversations: 5 total (2 were existing BG2 conversations that were modified and moved.)
The first conversation takes place after 4 days after both are in your party, the 2nd 6 days after that, the 3rd when you rest in an inn, and the 4th when they're both in your party and able to talk again. There is also a stand-alone conversation in the docks if you talk to any of the women commoners there.

- Jan and Mazzy conversations: 1 total.
Takes place 3 days after both are in your party, upon rest in a dungeon or outside.

- Viconia and Mazzy: One scene.
Mazzy comments and reacts when Viconia is at the stake. There will be two branches of Viconia conversations, one for if Mazzy helped rescue Viconia and one if she didn't. They both merge a few conversations is, but Mazzy and Viconia are on better terms if Mazzy saw her on the stake and helped to rescue her.

- With the Shadow Thieves
- Both the Talos and Lathander Temples figure out that it's you if you steal from them for Mae'Var and you have the option of returning the necklace and statuette later. This triggers whether you have Mazzy or not, but she's involved too if you do.

- Restcheck: coding to prevent the rest scenes in this mod from triggering on the same rest as those in game or in any other mod (that I've coded for) and for 2 minutes of real time after. The coding for preventing your mod's rest scenes from triggering the same night as any from BG2:EE is available for anyone to use in their own mod here. Coding to prevent your mod's rest scenes from triggering with those from other mods is available upon request.

Known bugs that I don't know how to fix:
Mazzy and Player 1 fighting:
Cernd and Jan go neutral during the fight and the little circles around them start pulsing with four little triangles. When they come back this stays and I don't know how to turn it off.

Partial to do list:
- Add conversations with/about Edwin and Mazzy (4 written so far)
- Add one more with Korgan and Mazzy
- Add friendship/romance conversations and make modifications to the Mazzy Friendship Mod that will show if both are installed (so the mods match).
-Add Keldorn/Mazzy conversations and quest to join the Order of the Radiant Heart
-Various Viconia/Mazzy conversations (10 written so far)

Installation and Compatibility
This mod should be generally compatible with all other mods. We've worked hard to make it like that. In addition we have tried (and will continue to try) to make it fully compatible with BG2:EE and the following mods (meaning that our rest scenes don't trigger the same rest as their rest scenes, and we use their triggers sometimes for additional dialogues, for example Imoen might react differently in a reaction if she's in love with Player 1):
Friendships/Banters: Mazzy Friendship, Viconia Friendship, the IEP Banter Project (as of March 25th, 2017)
NPC Romances: De'Arnise Romance, Edwin Romance, Haer'Dalis Romance, Imoen Romance, Keldorn Romance, Sarevok Romance, and the Yoshimo Romance.
Miscellaneous Mods: Alternatives

Also if you install this mod you do not need to restart your game or do anything like that. The triggers are all structured to just work whenever the mod is installed and check for existing situations (rather than adding my own triggers to in-game events). You should be able to do some conversations, kick Mazzy out of your party, delete the mod, play half the game, get Mazzy back in your party, reinstall the mod, and have it pick up right where it left off.

After you install the mod it will ask you if you want to install the restcheck tool. There's no reason to install this other than to test the mod. I use it to test to make sure the coding that prevents our mod's rest scenes from triggering with other rest scenes is working.

Like all mods if you want to install a later version of this mod you should uninstall the old one, delete the folder, and then put in the folder containing the later version of All Things Mazzy.

This thread is primarily for questions, bug-reporting, and for telling us that we're horrible people who have ruined Baldur's Gate II and thus your life. We also welcome dialogue suggestions (either changes or additions).

Thank you.

These are two kits I created for my own personal use. I have decided to share them if anyone wants to use them. They are a bit cheesy, but I have enjoyed using them. I haven't yet tested them thoroughly in EE, but they worked in BGT.

--------------------------------------------------------
Kenshei

Overview:
The kenshei are considered to be held at a high standard of perfection with their weapon. And even though they tend to travel alone and keep to themselves, the kenshei name is an honorary title given to warriors of legendary skill in swordsmanship.

Advantages:
: Grand Mastery in single and two weapon styles
: +2 to maximum dexterity
: Immunity to backstabbing
: +1 bonus to hit and damage at level 1 and then every 5 levels up to level 20
: -2 to Armor Class at level 1 and then -1 every 5th level up to level 20
: -1 to weapon speed at level 1 and then -1 every 5th level up to level 20
: +10% slashing and piercing resistance at level 1 and an additional +10% at level 15
: Gains Disarm ability at levels 6, 12 and 18. Has a 50% chance to make opponent drop their weapon.
: Gains Precision Strike ability at levels 7, 14 and 21. Grants a +3 THAC0 bonus for three rounds, does 1d10 damage to target, and has a 25% chance to stun target.

Disadvantages:
: May not wear helmets, armor, or gauntlets
: May only place points in single handed swords, single weapon style and two weapon style
: Requires: 15 dexterity
: -2 to maxium charisma

--------------------------------------------------------
Undead Eliminator

Overview:
The Eliminator of the Undead spend their life seeking out and destroying mummies, vampires, ghouls, and any other undead.

Advantages:
: +3 to hit and damage vs. undead creatures
: Immunity to hold
: Immunity to level drain, Vampire Fear, and Domination at level 5
: Can cast the Priest spell "False Dawn" at level 10, 15 and 20

Disadvantages:
: Must be good aligned
: May only place points in piercing and crushing weapons
: May not place points in missle weapons
: Can not wear full plate or plate mail armor
: May only dual to a Cleric

--------------------------------------------------------
Amazon

Overview:
Amazons are female warriors in a male-dominated world. Their civilization may have been created by a deity who likes women, they might have been women who rebelled against male domination and decided to rule themselves, or they might simply have been matriarchal societies from long before recorded history.
Whatever their origin, they now live in civilizations or communities where women occupy the positions and roles traditionally held by men, especially the role of warriors and adventurers.
An Amazon culture may be small (a single town or island) or large (an entire country or continent), very advanced or very primitive. Some Amazon cultures keep men as servants and slaves, a stern reversal of the former status; others have no men in their communities, and take long holidays in order to visit friendly neighbouring tribes of men; others perpetuate their kind by being very hospitable to adventurers passing through their territory.
Amazons are generally respected as highly proficient warriors, their weapons of choice being spears and bows. They also have a knowledge of poisons, and a mild affinity with the natural world. Due to their female status, Amazons are often greatly underestimated, and they are quick to use this, along with any other, advantage in battle.

Advantages:
- Can poison weapons such as spears at level 10
- Can charm animals once every 4 levels
- Can use their female status to an advantage by using First Strike at levels 1, 10 and 14 (This grants them +3 damage and a superb bonus to their THAC0 for the first or second hit)
- Gain 1D10+1 hit points as opposed to 1D10

Disadvantages:
- Cannot be of Lawful alignment
- Can only use spears, axes, hammer, club, mace, and quarterstaff with any skill.
- Can only obtain Grand Mastery with spears, club, quarterstaff, and two handed weapons.
- May not place any points in two weapon skill.
- Wears no armour greater than splint mail
- Must be a Human or Half-Elf

Edit: 5/14/2013 - I have rebuilt the Undead Eliminator kit from scratch and changed many of the Advantages.

Edit: 1/25/2016 - I have updated the kits. The new file can be found at the end.

Edit 1/26/2016 - Added the RTT and Jarno's Amazon kit with some of my own changes

Edit 3/20/2018 - Made the mod compatible with EET

[mod] Foundling: Between the Shades

Foundling: Between the Shades BETA is available. The mod fully playable, may need some polishing. I've decided to made the BETA version available.

Foundling is the thrall of Thaxll'ssillvia, the Shadow Dragon found in the Temple Ruins. He is cold, calculating, and determined to be freed from his influence. He can never oppose his master on his own, but everything can change thanks to the influence of the Bhaalspawn.

Foundling is a Shadow Adept who can use Shadow Weave Magic as well as some Shadow Magic. The mod introduces a new kind of magic with its own advantages and disadvantages. Even though Foundling is recognised as a mage, he can't use the Weave. In exchange he is given his own dark spells - mostly dark versions of well known spells, but there are some brand new ones too.

The mod is both an NPC and quest mod and introduces new characters, areas, music, items, soundset etc.

Foundling is not romanceable, but the character will still talk to you frequently, so no worries.

Test Your Mettle!
A mod for BG2:EE and EET (Enhanced Edition Trilogy) that provides you with a unique dungeon crawling experience.

Download latest beta (32 MB)

Overview

This mod provides you with a whole new adventure where you can explore new areas, meet exotic races, uncover a devious plot, or simply enjoy battle with an endless stream of monsters.

The adventure starts in the Planar Sphere in Athkatla's Slum District, where you may encounter new victims of Lavok's planar travels. The result of the encounter will enable you to access a dungeon that has been tailor-made for the intrepid adventurer.

Note: This mod requires BG2:EE patched to version 2.0 or higher.

The mod is already complete content-wise. You can play the whole quest from beginning to end, with complete dialogs, journal entries and quest rewards.

However, for the combat in the dungeon maze there is certainly room for further improvement. As I rarely play these games with AI enhancement mods myself I am very interested in your feedback. Are battles too easy or difficult? Does it get boring too quickly? What combat AI improvements would you like to see? Is there anything else that can be improved. Any feedback from you will help to make the mod more interesting!

[MOD] [In Progress] Improved Heart of Fury Mode

Work in Progress

Heart of Fury Mode was meant to be an "ultimate difficulty mode," but it wasn't very well executed. Its main feature is to give enemies extremely large HP bonuses, such that a regular orc could have about 100 hit points. This is bad because it makes fights very tedious. Most of playing Heart of Fury Mode consists of sitting around as your summoned creatures (which also get the extra HP) slowly kill the enemies.

This mod presents a more interesting "ultimate difficulty mode." It's not actually a difficulty setting, so it can be played on Normal, Insane, or even on Heart of Fury mode itself. Here are the main features:

* Battles are made tougher by giving enemies more powers (for example, Fire Beetles can breathe fire), adding more enemies in an encounter, giving enemies better AI (in some cases), and making enemies stronger all around, rather than simply by giving them lots of hit points.

When possible, the mod powers up enemies by improving their main ability. Trolls in this mod regenerate faster, bombardier beetles use their spray ability more frequently, sword spiders move super-fast and attack ten times per round, and shadows are like Strength-draining mind flayers (to say nothing about what the mind flayers are like).

* Items are powered up, like in Icewind Dale 2's Heart of Fury Mode.

Example items:

* Summoned creatures are NOT powered up, so you can't rely on them. Some enemies will get special summoning spells that summon creatures that are powered up, though.

* The party will be powered up slightly. Player characters roll 8-20 for stats (as in Dark Sun), rather than 3-18.

(Stats are for an elven ranger)

The party starts the game with 30000 experience (divided among the party, so a smaller party will get more experience per character). Pomab sells some good magical equipment and scrolls, and the party starts with a lot of gold.

* Throughout the game items are added, removed, and switched around. There are new random item selections.

The game will start off not too difficult - the goblins at the beginning of the game won't be much tougher than they are normally. But the game will get really hard really fast.

I am not done with this mod, and it's going to take a while. So far I am pretty much finished modding the prologue and Chapter 1; I'm currently working on Chapter 2.

[mod] Southern Edge - Athkatla's new district

$

After so many plays, I realized Athkatla got a bit boring, so I decided to make a new district to make the city more interesting. It's called the Southern Edge and is the "minor" city gate in the southern part of the city wall. Some merchants use this place to for the transporting their goods.

Southern Edge is a new district for our favorite BG2 city - Athkatla - available from the very start, once you talk to Gaelan and hear his offer. The mod is to make the first hours of the game more interesting, as some player might have got bored with doing the same quests over and over again. The area isn't as big as Slums or as Bridge District, but it includes a main quest introduced by a halfling name Mairo and a series of mini-quests and encounters introduced by both some new characters, and some you might have met before.
There are also some nice bits every district should have - a small shop, a tavern, some commoners, a temple, some troubled men and women... what else do adventurers need, right?
It's not a big mod, but it should entertain you for a moment or two. I hope that the Southern Edge will become a nice stop for you, Bhaalspawn, and your trusted group.

The mod now works on BG2EE, BG2 and EET.

Copying BAM frames in WeiDU - Is it possible?

$
0
0
In another forum thread we've been discussing the possibility of restoring vanilla behavior to inventory item icons in the EEs and reintroduce the possibility for items to feature individual inventory icon images for their unselected and selected states, similarly to how they worked in the original games. As Balquo has explained, it is possible to do this, and all it requires is to open up the BAM file for each inventory icon, and copy (or move) the first frame of the second animation cycle to the second frame of the first animation cycle.

I've been trying to check out the WeiDU documentation as well as the BAM file format(s) on IESDP in order to figure out whether it would be possible to automate this process with WeiDU, but unfortunately, I'm very inexperienced in both of those areas, and all I've managed to do so far is make my head spin.

So I thought I'd ask to check if anyone else has any more experience in this field and could maybe give some pointers or example code to help me tackle this problem, if it is indeed possible to do what I want to do.

Here's a really rough (hopefully) human-interpretable mock code of roughly what I'm looking for:
FOR EACH (ITEM in game)
    SET VAR BAM = ITEM.icon
    IF (BAM.numcycles >= 2)
        IF (BAM[cycle 1].numframes >= 1)
            COPY_FRAME BAM[cycle 1][frame 0] to BAM[cycle 0][frame 1]
        ENDIF
    ENDIF
ENDFOR

Hi everyone,

Beginner here to Near Infinity. I want to make some custom items. I've gotten pretty good at everything else, but if I want to edit the description of an item, it says to be sure I edit the dialog file as well. What is this file and how do I edit it properly? Thanks in advance!

BG EE 2.0 and Siege of Dragonspear Compatible Mods

$

Version 2.0 of BG EE and the release of Siege of Dragonspear brought a lot of changes to the game engine.

Rather than creating a lot of confusion editing the original compatible mod list thread I decided it would be a better idea to create a new clean thread.

So if you have written a mod that is 2;0/SoD compatible or have tested a mod and found it to be compatible just let me know so that it can be added to the list.

The rule of no direct links stay. Give a link to the mod thread. The modder deserves full credit for his/her creation.

Good modding and have fun!

Attention! GOG/Steam users . If you have Siege of Dragonspear installed you must install this before trying to install any mod.

[MOD] -Scales of Balance- a post-hac tweak mod

THIS MOD IS deprecated REVIVED!!

https://github.com/UnearthedArcana/Scales_of_Balance/releases

This new version basically just has some improved versions of the overhaul and tweak components that have been residing in Might 'n' Guile for the last few months:

- Item/Weapon Overhaul (in 5 parts)
- Weapon Proficiency Overhaul (in 4 parts)
- Saving Throw Overhaul
- Stat bonus tweaks (in 2 parts)
- Hit dice tweaks (2 options)
- XP tweaks (in 2 parts)
- Magic Resistance Overhaul

That's it!

Full Readme:

...

If you like the SoB cleric and druid kits, you can still find those at the link for v4.3:

https://github.com/subtledoctor/Scales_of_Balance/releases/tag/4.3.2

But really, those are totally old and busted. Instead of using them, you should ask me for a copy of the Faiths & Powers beta. Even now, in beta form, it's miles better! :)

Btw, part of the reason for breaking things up this way has to do with load order. Might 'n' Guile as usual should be installed after other kits but before SCS. This new version of Scales of Balance should be installed very very late: especially if you use the MRO, that should be installed after all mods that add creatures and items. So after SCS, and after aTweaks.

Cheers!

Again, to recap what's happened since v3: my single old mod got too big and unwieldy, and I also got better at this stuff and wanted to do more. So the old Scales of Balance has been broken up into a number of other mods:

What is this?
This started out as my own personal set of tweaks that I did on top of a fully modded game. It includes some basic mechanical tweaks (e.g. modified stat bonuses and an overhaul of the proficiency system), some cosmetic changes (e.g. FR-themed paladin kit names, and magic items that don't break immersion by putting '+2's and '+5's in your face), and roughly 15 new kits.

This is all about improving gameplay.
I love mods that bring the game closer to PnP, like Rogue Rebalancing and aTweaks. But BG is a single-player computer game. If tweaking a rule makes this specific game more fun, then it's a good tweak, PnP be damned. Consider this mod as a collection of 'house rules' specific to the BG campaign. Every choice has been made with an eye to the particular gameplay mechanics of BG2 and the EEs.

I try to make this as compatible as possible with other mods.
Notwithstanding the above paragraphs, this mod is 100% compatible with RR and aTweaks. This is meant to be applied alongside those mods - not instead of them.

Everything is completely optional.
You can use as many or as few of the mod components as you like. None of them rely on each other, there is no 'core' component. Use what you like, ignore what you don't.

A very general idea of what the mod contains (not in this order):

1) Basic game tweaks. These components modify the following:
- reducing the number of +'s in in-game item descriptions, and standardizing item enchantment into normal, 'mastercraft,' 'enchanted' (+2), named weapons (+3), and artifacts (+5)
- slightly improved stat bonuses, saving throw tables, HP tables, XP tables, and spell tables
- an overhaul of the weapon proficiency system
- minor tweaks and rebalancing for vanilla warriors, rogues, and divine classes
- revised kensai kit that actually specializes in one weapon class, like the description says
- MAJOR revisions to druid shapeshifting
- wizards class changes, including at-will cantrips, innate metamagic, and tweaks to the spell battle system
- MAJOR specialist wizard kit and spell school changes, making all 8 specialists fun and unique

2) New kits, all balanced against the vanilla game and based on solid, lore-friendly 2E and FR sources.
- 2 new fighter kits (Corsair, Marksman)
- 4 new ranger kits (Mage Hunter, Barbarian Ranger, Elven Archer, Halfling Slinger)
- 7 new cleric kits (priests of Selune, Sune, Tymora, Leira, Shar, Malar, Baervan Wildwanderer)
- 2 new druid kits (Purifier, Elementalist)
- 2 new thief kits (Scout, Sniper)
- 5 new bard kits (Jongleur, Loremaster, Gallant, Meistersinger, Loresinger of Milil)
- 10 new multiclass kits! (Bladesinger, Spellfilcher, Spellbender, multiclass priests of Mask, Mystra, Arvoreen and Brandobaris, and more)

3) NPC modifications. These components allow you to apply some of the new kits, or some original kits, to various NPCs. (This is basically for EE players who can't use the Level1NPCs mod.)

A note on installation:
- Install SoB after almost everything else. After BG2Tweaks, after SCS, after aTweaks. The only stuff that should be installed after this are FPPS, Generalized Biffing, NPC_EE, Level1NPCs, lolfixer, etc. Not much.
