BGEE Mod Compatibility Thread

$

First, in order to even get mods to install while we wait for a new version of WeiDU, follow the instructions in this thread to enable mod installation for Windows and OS X.

I'm hoping to make this a running thread of known (in)compatibilities with BGEE. A lot of this at the beginning will be, unfortunately, trial-and-error and a lot of updating by mod authors. If you should find a problem with a mod, let fellow players know here but more importantly let the mod author know. Mods have readmes with contact information; the mod will never be fixed unless the author is at least aware of the issues.
I'll start us rolling with my own stuff below.

Since BGEE is essentially BG1 content in the BG2 engine, which mod may be appropriate is often unclear, e.g. you should use BG2 Tweaks on BGEE, not BG1 Tweaks.

Stuff You Don't Need

  • ToBEx (fixes)
  • BG1 Fixpack
  • BG2 Fixpack (core and core beta)
  • Baldurdash
  • Dudleyville
  • Tutu/EasyTutu and TutuFix
  • BGT or its fixes
  • Widescreen mod
  • One Pixel Productions

looking for a mod to help me clean up my inventory

Hi

Is there a mod that can help me sort out useful items from useless? I have lots of stuff that I don't know whether I'm going to need or not. Quest items, weird items, etc. Would be nice with a mod that added a little string of text in the description of each item like "quest item, quest completed, can be ditched", "treasure item, keep to unlock secret later"

Thanks

There shall be wings! If the accomplishment be not for me, 'tis for some other. The spirit cannot die; and man, who shall know all and shall have wings...
- Leonardo da Vinci

This mod does not give Aerie her wings back. And it never will, as I feel it's obviously an important part of Aerie's development that she creates a new identity for herself and lets go of the old one.

What it does do however, is add a bit of extra content for the wingless wonder.

There are a few extra banters between the main character and Aerie, quite a few between her and Imoen, a couple others, and a few encounters specific to the avariel.

Not yet fully tested, since it was only released in the last week. So far, it all seems to be working fine for me:

BG2EEWings03.

Although I know all the banters work by ctrl-iing them, I've not had to chance to test it all yet on an actual playthrough. The encounters seem to all work like they're intended.

Still underway though; a personal quest for Aerie, that involves confronting the people who captured her, broke her, put her in chains and weights that were real and made her forget the real person she is.

Adding Innate Abilities

This is very simple modding I want to do but can't seem to figure how to work it properly.

I want to play as a Monk that can cast certain mage and priest spells in the Innate Abilities section but I cannot find a way to make it work. I recall in another thread that EEKeeper couldn't do it properly due to it not being able to alter a certain file that dictates Innate Ability amounts. I am unsure where or what that particular file is.

I also tried to make copies of the spells and altered them to be innate but my Monk is unable to cast them. It does not show up in the innate abilities section after editing and adding them through EEKeeper or NearInfinity.

Is there a way to make a Monk cast spells this way? All I have is NearInfinity.jar and EEKeeper and I have no idea how to use Weidu.

Thanks in advanced.

How to mod thieving?

I've been playing around with Near Infinity and can't figure out how to mod certain thieving abilities. Basically, I'd like to have detect traps always on or, at least, check for traps every second, rather than once every six seconds. I'd like to also fix detect traps and stealth so they can be used with each other and don't break when doing mundane tasks, such as opening a door or picking a lock.

I haven't seen anything in 2da files that would fix these, so how can I do so? If they're hardcoded and not easily modded with Near Infinity, would anyone else be up for the task? Thank you.

Without further ado without rooting your phone is it possible to add custom portraits, add mods, and is it possible to edit saves/character files?

I haven't found any folders for them so I assume that rooting will be required.

[Override Mod] New BG:EE items available in shops

$

This simple mod makes some new items introduced by BG:EE available in shops across the Sword Coast, so you don't have to recruit new NPCs to get them. Enemies still wear them, but they are undroppable (except Elven Chain). Redistributed items are:
Albruin - Thunderhammer Smithy
Elven Chainmail - Thunderhammer Smithy
Amulet of Spell Warding - Feldepost Inn
Gem Bag - Friendly Arm Inn
Adoy's Belt - Carnival Shop (the only square one)
Glimmering Bands - Carnival Shop (the only square one)
Cursed Girdle of Hill Giant Strength - Lucky Aello's Discount Store at the entrance of Baldur's Gate

It is simple override non-WeiDU mod, so even iPad players can use it. Just extract the file in the override (or portraits for iPad). Note that the items will only be available in those shops if you haven't already visited them.

Is BG1 Unfinished Business compatible with EE yet? If so, could I have the link to the compatible version?

Sorry if this is the wrong category to put this in.

Hello there! I've got an Dell Venue Pro 8 and bought the game yesterday. But I can't seen to make the touch controls work. From what I've searched on the forums, Windows tablets are not yet supported. Is there any way to mod the game to recognize the touch, like in Ipad and Android versions?
Are there any plans to officially support it?

Thank you!

So, I seem to have been deemed uninterested by Tashia since she stopped talking to me some time ago. Now I'm in the Underdark and I would very much like to "get a second chance" with her. Is it somehow possible to force her romance to start again?

Hi all. My testing on Saradas Magic 2 for Throne of Bhaal has just finished.
Now my mod features new contents for the last chapter of the Bhaalspawns saga.

What's new in Saradas Magic 2 for Throne of Bhaal?

In Throne of Bhaal Saradas is finally a recruitable NPC!
You can summon him through the Fate Spirit in your pocket plane.
He is a human Priest of Lathander dual-classed to Mage.
His stats are:

Sword Coast Stratagems is now available for BG:EE and BGII:EE

$

The newest version of my mod "Sword Coast Stratagems", version 25, is now out and ought to be a bit improvement on previous versions for BG:EE in terms of stability and ease of install. It should be compatible with version 1.2 of BG:EE and (with any luck) with BG2:EE when it comes out later this week. The new version fixes a host of bugs large and small (though mostly not with BG:EE, as it happens) and (with some trepidation) I'm declaring it non-beta, though realistically it's still beta for BG2:EE.

You can download it from http://www.gibberlings3.net/scs

Edit: after two fast updates in response to problems identified with BG2:EE installs, we're now on v27. I've had to disable the "Improved Vampires" component on BG2:EE installs for the moment: some kind of animation bug is causing crashes and I don't immediately have time to sort it out. (If you have installed that component, I recommend uninstalling it.)

Edit: version 28 now out. This one fixes several severe bugs.

Hi there,

So for i have found a nice lists with the CLUA item codes for the original version. But is there also an updated list for the items that have been added in the Enhanced edition? Like the Mechanical bird you get in Neera's questline or Dorn's starter sword?

Cheers!

What's the latest word on the Ascension mod?

What the title says. I keep putting off my BG2 playthru since the mod hasn't been updated. BG2:EE has been out for a while so I'm wondering if it's ever going to happen.

Does anyone know who is working on it?

Shield Mod - Mulling over ideas

$
0
0
Thanks to the newly externalized features of BG[2]:EE, I'm thinking about creating a Shield Mod. I'm interested in any comments or feedback on the ideas for the mod.

The mod would have two components:

1. Revised Sword n' Shield style - In Combat & Tactics, Weapon & Shield style is about being able to do various shield combat maneuvers (e.g., shield-punch) without losing your shield bonus to AC, but I'm not sure if "shield attacks" would even be possible in the Infinity Engine. However, I did note that C&T also details a shield proficiency, which gives a shield bearer extra AC bonuses when using a shield.

Here's how those bonuses work:

Shield Type Non-Prof. AC Bonus Proficient AC Bonus
Buckler +1* +1
Small Shield +1* +2
Medium Shield +1* +3
Body (Large) Shield +1/+2 vs. missles +3/+4 vs. missles
* Note, PnP limits the number of attackers that a shield can be used against in each round. So, shields of increasing size don't provide greater AC (for non-proficient users), they provide AC bonus for more attacks. AFAIK, BG[2]:EE doesn't do this (which would be why they implemented different bonuses for each shield type).

So, like the current SnS style, C&T's shield proficiency provides an AC bonus (for most shield types), but not just vs. missles. Its a general bonus of +2 for medium and large shields, +1 for small shields, and no bonus for bucklers.

My revision to SnS style will be to replace the AC bonuses vs. missles with flat AC bonuses. 1 pip in SnS will provide a +1 AC bonus when using a shield, 2 pips will provide a +2 bonus. There doesn't appear to be a way to limit the AC bonus by shield type, however.

Instead, classes will be limited in the number of pips they can take:
Warriors (except Kensai), including multi-class: 2 pips
Clerics, including multi-class: 1 pip
Buckler-only classes (Thieves, Druids, Bards): 0 pips
Mages, Sorcerers: 0 pips

This limits classes that normally wouldn't benefit from shield proficiency (i.e. those who can only use a buckler) from taking SnS style. While it doesn't stop a fighter from getting a +2 AC bonus with a buckler, presumably a shield-using fighter would likely choose a bigger, more-protective shield.

2. Revised Shield AC bonuses - It always struck me as odd that a buckler grants no protecting from piercing weapons, especially when the PnP description from C&T states "[a buckler's] small size makes it easy to carry, but it is of limited usefulness against anything except fencing weapons." Fencing weapons are piercing, of course.
Also, the idea that a full body shield is only more useful than a small shield vs. missle weapons just seems wrong.

Here's the revised table of shield AC bonuses.

Shield Type AC Bonus
Buckler +1/+0 vs. missles
Small Shield +1
Medium Shield +1/+2 vs. missles
Large Shield +2
I'll give bucklers an AC bonus vs. piercing, making them equivalent to vanilla small shields. So, I'll shift the AC bonuses for small and medium shields as well.

For large shields, the AC bonus will change to a flat +2 AC bonus, but -1 "to hit" penalty due to the encumbrance of the shield (idea borrowed from 3E). In addition, large shields will gain an item ability of "Full Cover" which allows the defender to sacrifice all his/her attacks for one round in exchange for a +4 bonus to AC. This is useful for quaffing a healing potion during combat.

Thanks for the feedback!

Mendas, the bugged assassin in Candlekeep Ch.1

$

So in my custom party while playing multiplayer by myself I ran into Reevor's (the dwarf with the rat infestation in Candlekeep) storeroom and aggro'd the rats as usual. Realizing that I forgot to talk to Reevor to start the quest, I immediately turned and left and talked to Reevor to activate the quest. While this was going on the 'fight music' was still playing, but that's common.

However, once I reentered the Storehouse, a man by the name of 'Mendas' greeted me and threatened my life. His dialogue matched exactly like that of Karlat (the assassin within the Red Sheaf in Beregost) and then he attacked me. Quickly dispatching him, I gathered up his loot and he had the same Bounty Notice scroll that Karlat carries with him. The rats, cats, and the loot within the building were unchanged.

I didn't think of taking any pictures of my assailant before or during the fight, but I thought about it afterwards and took some pics of the scroll and some info from the chat bar to try and help. Mendas had the same model as a human thief, well he was a tall thick man with a hood, so I believe he was a human thief.

Hope this helps, I'll attempt to upload the pictures in order of what transpired and I'll explain them too.

This is of me walking into Reevor's the first time. Mendas was not there.

This is when I realized that I forgot to talk to Reevor for the quest. I left the building, talked to him, reentered building, and BOOM! Assassin!!

There's Mendas's dialogue. Exactly the same as Karlat's.

There's Mendas's expierence that I recieved after killing him.

There's the scroll that Mendas had on him.

And lastly as I type this up and uploaded the pictures, I just realized that I have the Dark Horizon mod installed. I completely forgot about this and I hope that that doesn't invalidate my issue. If so I'll just crawl into a corner and fetal position...

EDIT: Your discussion got picked up by the spam filter, presumably due to the BBCode tags. Apologies for the delay. — Troodon80.
